Chapter 6: Awakening the Mind

Human trafficking and organ trade—such phenomena are far from rare in the world of Hunter x Hunter. Beyond that, there exist specialized channels and information exchange websites catering to both buyers and sellers. Countless twisted desires from buyers find their fulfillment on such platforms.
If fate does not intervene, Moro and the others will be selected like piglets. Those less fortunate may have their organs harvested directly or be turned into statues or dolls as display items. The slightly luckier ones might become the buyers’ prized possessions—enduring physical suffering but at least surviving.
Moro sat cross-legged, recalling the events about to unfold. The truck would arrive at the psychiatric hospital in a few hours. He couldn’t pinpoint the exact time, only knowing the journey would take at least two hours. Upon arrival, during the “unloading,” an ambush would occur. Most of the piglets locked in cages with him perished in that attack.
He survived partly due to luck—he had missed the first wave of explosions during unloading—and partly thanks to Melena’s timely appearance. As a buyer, she helped the psychiatric hospital repel the attackers at the critical moment. Without Melena, Moro would likely have been the fastest to die among the travelers.
Now, facing this crisis once more, Moro felt as if standing at a crossroads, forced to make a choice: follow the predetermined path and be bought by Melena, or find a way to escape during the truck ride. Moro’s gaze flickered, recalling the attackers like Chrollo, Doggo who had recently left his shop, and Melena’s abyssal eyes.
But soon, Moro steadied his thoughts and made his decision. Now, he not only understood the world he was in but had also mastered the common language. For this transitional phase, there was no need to rely on Melena’s acceptance. Naturally, he could not let events unfold as before.
This time, Moro refused any further involvement with Melena.
“I need to open my aura nodes within two hours, and if conditions allow, adapt my body to use the ‘Deceptive Flying Star’ technique…” Moro looked up at the row of rusty iron bars standing vertically.
Since he had resolved to escape while the truck was in motion, awakening his aura was essential. Normally, without an aura user to guide and teach, even with theoretical knowledge, it’s almost impossible to awaken aura independently in practice. Even if one could awaken aura quickly, mastering the techniques afterward was another hurdle to overcome.
Ten, refine, sever, release.
These are the fundamental aura techniques known as the Four Major Practices, typically requiring significant time and effort for aura users to solidify and practice.

Scenes where someone casually awakens aura and masters these techniques rapidly are nearly impossible in reality. Aura itself is an incredibly profound power. From understanding, accessing, learning, applying, optimizing, mastering, to reaching the pinnacle—each stage demands immense dedication and effort.
Characters like Gon, Killua, and Kakin’s princes in the original story are exceptional prodigies rarely seen in reality.
But now—
Moro would become one of them.
Closing his eyes, Moro instinctively meditated, allowing his consciousness to settle and sense the latent aura within his body. His more than half a year’s experience proved invaluable at this moment.
Within seconds, Moro easily touched the latent aura and immediately attempted to guide it to open his aura nodes.
The process went smoothly. Under Moro’s precise control, the aura flowed through his body like a stream, reaching every aura node naturally, as effortlessly as eating or drinking.
One by one, the aura nodes opened, and the aura surged like a roaring river, undulating within Moro’s body.
“Good.” Moro opened his eyes, looking down at his hands glowing with white light.
The aura pouring out was like a wild stallion, wildly galloping and escaping.
In his current condition, if left unchecked, he’d likely collapse from exhaustion within ten minutes.
But that was a minor problem.
With a thought, Moro smoothly employed the “Ten” technique, binding the escaping aura tightly to his body surface, suppressing the intense energy consumption.
Easier than expected…
Successfully awakening aura and using the Four Major Practices effortlessly calmed Moro’s emotions. Mastering aura meant he now held the weapon representing initiative.
Next, he had to create a disturbance at the right moment, forcing the driver to stop the vehicle.
Moro reached out and grasped the rusty iron bar in his palm.
Inside the truck cabin.
A scruffy middle-aged man sat behind the wheel, his expression focused, likely due to the rough mountain roads.
In the passenger seat was a young man with a buzz cut, slouched lazily as if melting into the seat.
But watching his eyes closely revealed his gaze never fixed in one place, constantly shifting between the rearview mirror and several surveillance monitors.
Vigilance and observation seemed to be his duty.
“Huh?”
The buzz-cut young man suddenly uttered in surprise as his gaze passed over the monitors hanging from the ceiling.
The middle-aged driver heard the sound and instinctively asked, “What’s wrong?”
“…”
The young man said nothing at first, staring fixedly at the screen.
There, unmistakably, was Moro’s figure.
“Impossible…!”
Through the live feed, the buzz-cut man saw Moro awaken aura within seconds and immediately use the “Ten” technique.
His eyes widened, the lazy demeanor vanishing instantly, replaced by disbelief as though witnessing a ghost.
Awakening aura autonomously in seconds already overturned his understanding, let alone mastering “Ten” at lightning speed afterward.
If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn’t have believed it.
As for the possibility of deception…
Impossible.
This batch of piglets had been handled personally by him, and he knew all their details.
The scruffy middle-aged man glanced at the young man’s reaction, frowning, “Zazan, what’s going on?”
“Stop the vehicle!”
Zazan struggled to suppress the surge of emotions, gave no explanation, and ordered the driver to stop in a tone brooking no argument.
Trusting Zazan’s ability, the middle-aged man hesitated but pressed the brakes immediately.
Zazan pulled a handgun from the storage box, tossed it to the driver, then ignored his changing expression, opened the door, jumped down, and hurried toward the rear of the truck.
The driver grasped the gun, watching Zazan’s movements, silently disengaged the safety, and followed, approaching the back of the cargo area from the other side.
Inside the cargo hold.
Seeing the truck suddenly stop, Moro took advantage and forcibly bent the rusty iron bars.
Creak, screech—
The sound of the bending bars immediately drew the attention of the other piglets.
They turned toward the noise, their minds instantly blanking.
