Chapter 18: Leaving Notting Academy
After a brief moment of shock, Director Su regained his composure and sighed, “You’ve already reached the second ring; indeed, it’s about time for you to leave. But if you’re aiming for a top-tier soul master academy, my and the dean’s recommendation letters won’t carry much weight. However, given your current status, you probably don’t even need a recommendation to enroll.”
Suddenly, Director Su shifted the topic. “By the way, which advanced soul master academy are you planning to join? In your situation, I think Blue Tyrant Academy would be a good choice. I’ve heard they only recruit commoner students, and they seem to have the backing of the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Sect, one of the top three sects.”
“I haven’t decided on a specific academy yet,” Mo Hui shook his head in response. “But there are two that I’m particularly interested in: the Tiandou Royal Academy and the Divine Wind Academy. Ultimately, I need to see them in person before making a decision.”
The Tiandou Royal Academy boasts the best simulated training grounds among all advanced academies, which could significantly accelerate Mo Hui’s cultivation. Moreover, it is financially robust and resource-rich; its library contains the most comprehensive knowledge on martial souls outside of the Martial Soul Hall and the top three sects, making it the best place for Mo Hui to study.
On the other hand, the Divine Wind Academy specializes in wind-elemental research. While it may not offer as broad a range of martial soul knowledge as the Tiandou Royal Academy, it is arguably the strongest academy on the continent in the field of wind-elemental martial souls.
If Mo Hui joins the Divine Wind Academy, Bobo might receive the finest training and, upon acquiring the next soul ring, could undergo an evolution.
“Tiandou Royal Academy and Divine Wind Academy?” Director Su was momentarily taken aback before saying, “The Divine Wind Academy is manageable. Although your Bobo’s innate soul power is somewhat lacking, it’s wind-elemental, so joining shouldn’t be difficult. But the Tiandou Royal Academy mostly consists of noble offspring. While they do accept talented commoners, if you join, you might face disdain and bullying.”
As a level thirty-nine Soul Sovereign with a baronial title, Director Su was well aware of the nature of those noble children.
“That’s why I want to see it for myself. Only by knowing the reality can I make an informed decision,” Mo Hui replied with a smile.
Soon, with Director Su’s assistance, Mo Hui’s graduation application was smoothly approved. However, he did not leave immediately but went to visit Mo Hen.
“Ah~ Little Hui, you’ve finally decided to leave?” Mo Hen sighed upon hearing the news.
Nottingham City was too small, and with such an outstanding nephew, it was indeed necessary for Mo Hui to venture into a larger world. Staying in Nottingham would only limit his future.
“You’re leaving, and I don’t have much to give you, but please accept these one hundred gold soul coins as travel expenses,” Mo Hen said, handing Mo Hui a bag from an exquisite box.
Mo Hui accepted without refusal, appreciating his uncle's intention and planning to repay it many times over in the future.
After leaving Mo Hen’s residence, Mo Hui returned to Dormitory Seven to pack his belongings. At that moment, Tang San and Xiao Wu returned together, noticing Mo Hui’s luggage preparations and feeling curious.
After a moment, Tang San couldn’t help but ask, “Mo Hui, where are you going?”
“I’ve graduated and am preparing to attend an advanced soul master academy,” Mo Hui replied casually.
“You graduated early?” Tang San was slightly stunned and somewhat dazed.
Although Mo Hui used Xiao Wu as a shield, it was impossible to always hide behind her. Tang San still challenged Mo Hui from time to time.
But Tang San’s amusing Blue Silver Entangling Vine technique was no match for Mo Hui’s Air Blade; every time Tang San used it, Mo Hui would slice it apart with a gust of wind, so Tang San’s challenges usually ended in failure.
Yet, like a roly-poly toy, Tang San kept coming back, his persistence even earning Mo Hui’s reluctant admiration.
Over time, tired of Tang San’s interruptions, Mo Hui purposefully “accidentally” lost a challenge to him once, finally gaining peace to cultivate in earnest.
Mo Hui didn’t have many belongings—mostly notes on martial soul knowledge—so he finished packing quickly.
Shouldering his backpack full of notes, Mo Hui said to Tang San and Xiao Wu, “I don’t want the rest of my things. If you want them, take them; if they’re in the way, just throw them away.”
His words were mainly directed at the other residents of Dormitory Seven, since Tang San and Xiao Wu were both second-ring great soul masters and received a monthly allowance of ten gold soul coins—they certainly didn’t need his stuff.
However, among the things Mo Hui left were some important notebooks containing his cultivation experiences. He had specially prepared these for the work-study students of Dormitory Seven. With these notes, future work-study students could avoid many detours.
As he reached the dormitory door, Mo Hui suddenly paused, hesitated for a moment, and then turned to Tang San. “For the three years we’ve spent together, Tang San, here’s a sincere piece of advice: when choosing an academy in the future, never pick any unregulated, shady ones. Remember that.”
With that, Mo Hui turned and walked out of Nottingham Academy without looking back.
Over the three years of sharing a dormitory with Tang San, Mo Hui had come to understand him fairly well.
Despite some extremities caused by a lack of education in both his past life and this one, Tang San wasn’t as bad as the internet rumors in his past life had suggested.
Many of his bad habits had likely developed only after joining Shrek, especially after Fred’s saying, “Only cowards avoid trouble,” which had made Mo Hui laugh.
Of course, all this was true only when it didn’t involve people Tang San cared about—Tang Hao, Yu Xiaogang, and Xiao Wu.
If you crossed any of those he cared about, no matter the circumstances or who was right or wrong, you were courting death.
Especially with Xiao Wu—she was utterly untouchable. Didn’t Zhao Wuji just play around with them? And because Xiao Wu got slightly hurt, Tang San unleashed a barrage of poisoned hidden weapons, even directly using Dragon Whisker Needles.
While Mo Hui’s opinion of Tang San had improved, he wasn’t about to change him. Offering a reminder was already as much as he could do.
Besides, Tang San’s real problem wasn’t now, but the person he would become as the God King.
Tang San of the first Dou Era wasn’t morally exemplary, but among protagonists of that time, he was quite ordinary—some might even say he had outstanding character.
But the Tang San of the second Dou Era, who appeared in the Qian Kun Wen Qing Valley, utterly baffled Mo Hui. His later behavior became increasingly repulsive.
As Mo Hui walked out of Nottingham Academy, he deliberately glanced back at the grand entrance, a trace of reluctance in his eyes.
“Bobo~”
Even Bobo let out a somewhat mournful call. After four years together, how could there be no feelings?
After a moment, Mo Hui closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “Farewell, Nottingham Academy, the place I’ve lived for four years.”
Then, Mo Hui and Bobo left Nottingham City together. Their legend was only just beginning!
