Chapter 26: Kamikaze Academy
Several days later, a boy in his early teens stepped down from a magnificent carriage.
Gazing at the academy gates before him, the boy took a deep breath and said, "Finally, I've arrived at Kamikaze Academy."
This boy was Mo Hui. Mo Hui had not joined the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect directly, but he had accepted their investment. He had no choice; the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect’s offer was simply too generous.
Perhaps because their core inherited spirit, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, is a support-type spirit, the sect has never been stingy in recruiting external talents—especially non-support types—and the terms they offer are exceptionally lavish. Not only did they grant Mo Hui ten thousand gold soul coins and a half-cubic-meter storage soul device as a one-time gift, but he would also receive an annual stipend of five thousand gold soul coins from the sect. The only condition was that after graduation, Mo Hui would need to assist the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect with a few tasks within his capabilities. Only a sect as wealthy and bold as the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect would offer such terms; after all, a non-binding contract like this is easily lost.
"Since you have arrived, it is time for us to depart!" A middle-aged man’s voice called out from inside the carriage after Mo Hui had disembarked.
Mo Hui nodded and said, "Safe travels, uncles."
Upon hearing that Mo Hui intended to study at Kamikaze Academy, Ning Fengxu had not only immediately written a recommendation letter to the academy's dean but had also dispatched two Spirit Ancestors to escort Mo Hui all the way there in a sect carriage. The consideration was thorough. Reflecting on this, Mo Hui couldn't help but marvel at the sect's grand gestures. He vaguely understood why the Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo remained so loyal to the sect—despite being titled Douluo themselves, they were still willing to follow the orders of Ning Fengzhi, who was only a level 79 Spirit Saint. It was likely that they or their families had once received great kindness from the sect, and they were now repaying that debt.
Just as Mo Hui was about to enter Kamikaze Academy, a guard stopped him.
"Little one, what brings you here?"
Perhaps seeing that Mo Hui had just stepped out of a Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect carriage, the guard did not display any arrogance, but instead asked in a soft, gentle voice.
Mo Hui took the recommendation letter written by Ning Fengxu from his storage pouch and handed it to the guard. "I am here to enroll in Kamikaze Academy. This is my letter of recommendation; could you please report it?"
Among the Five Elements Academies, only the Heavenly Water Academy recruited commoners directly. Mo Hui had originally worried that joining Kamikaze Academy might be troublesome, but with Ning Fengxu's letter, everything was settled.
"Enrollment?"
Hearing this, the guard was slightly taken aback. After receiving the letter, his expression shifted. He asked Mo Hui to wait a moment and then hurried inside.
Not long after the guard disappeared, a teacher in his forties or fifties, dressed in a cyan robe embroidered with silver thread, walked out.
"Are you Mo Hui?" The teacher looked at him, confirming his identity.
Mo Hui nodded. "I am Mo Hui. Hello, teacher!"
"Mo Hui, the dean has seen your recommendation letter. Follow me."
As they walked, the teacher introduced himself. "My name is Feng Yan. You can call me Teacher Yan. If you encounter any difficulties at Kamikaze Academy in the future, you can come to me."
As for why he wasn't called Teacher Feng, it was because the majority of the academy's faculty and students shared the surname Feng, so they had to be distinguished by their given names.
Teacher Yan was highly efficient. Before long, he had finalized Mo Hui's admission procedures and arranged his accommodation.
"You will stay in room 1-90. It is fully equipped with the essentials. If you need anything else, you can check the shop within the academy."
Teacher Yan handed the key to Mo Hui and departed, seemingly preoccupied with other matters.
Mo Hui opened the door to his room and saw the furnishings, including a neatly made bed. A trace of surprise flashed in his eyes—it really was fully equipped. Unlike the dormitory at Notting Academy, this was a single room, complete with a bathroom and a kitchen. It felt more like an inn than a dormitory.
After freshening up, Mo Hui put on his Kamikaze Academy uniform and stepped out. Though he wanted to start meditating on his bed immediately, it was his first day, and he needed to familiarize himself with the campus to avoid getting lost on his way to class. He also wanted to see what the simulated cultivation grounds at Kamikaze Academy were like.
The academy was situated on the side of a massive canyon where the winds were fierce and wind-element energy was exceptionally active. Even within the academy grounds, the density of wind energy far surpassed that of the mountain peak in Notting City. This made Mo Hui eager to see just how potent the academy's actual simulated cultivation grounds could be.
However, after walking around for a while, Mo Hui could not find any sign of a cultivation ground and frowned.
Just then, a handsome youth of seventeen or eighteen walked by. Mo Hui asked, "Senior, may I ask where our academy's simulated cultivation ground is?"
"A new student?" The youth didn't answer directly but looked Mo Hui up and down before asking in return.
Mo Hui nodded.
"That explains it." The youth pointed outside the academy. "Do you see that canyon outside? That is called the Hurricane Canyon. It is our academy's simulated cultivation ground—a top-tier one at that!"
"Ordinary simulated cultivation grounds can at best increase cultivation speed by fifty percent, but in the Hurricane Canyon, if you can hold on, doubling your cultivation speed is quite simple."
"That powerful!?" Mo Hui was astonished. A twofold increase in speed would allow an ordinary spirit master to cultivate at the rate of a genius with innate spirit power of eight or nine.
"It is that powerful, but sadly, few can achieve it." The youth sneered. "The Hurricane Canyon is not a pleasant place. The environment is extremely harsh; you must endure the gale every second. Ordinary spirit masters are doing well just to last a few days, and they require days of recovery afterward. So, hitting a hundred percent increase in speed is very difficult."
"The student who stayed there the longest in our academy's history is Feng Xiaotian. He once stayed for a full month and his spirit power increased by a full level upon emerging. But unfortunately, now..." The youth sighed and shook his head. "Never mind. If you want to go to the Hurricane Canyon, remember to be careful. Since the founding of the academy, quite a few students have lost their lives there. Know your limits!"
With that, the youth left without another word.
Mo Hui touched his chin, his gaze drifting toward the canyon outside the academy.
"Hurricane Canyon... sounds promising."
