Chapter 25: Ding! Your Golden Thigh Has Arrived
(Page 1 of 3)
“Oh, come on, Liya, I’m not that amazing!”
Aya waved her hands bashfully, a faint blush coloring her cheeks.
“I never imagined Miss Aya would be so formidable. You’re much stronger than I am!”
Lis gave Aya a thumbs-up. The girl’s reaction was rather amusing.
“Stop talking about me!” Aya waved dismissively, then asked Lis, “Is there anything else you need to do? I can help you, you know. All you have to do is treat me to those golden-thread shrimp balls you mentioned last time!”
The moment Aya opened her mouth, her true nature as a little glutton was exposed.
“I wanted to find the assassin class instructor and learn some professional techniques, but unfortunately, he went out on a mission and isn’t at the guild.”
“Huh? Lis, why do you want to study assassination? Aren’t you a mage—”
Before she could finish, Lis abruptly covered her mouth. That little troublemaker had nearly exposed everything about him.
She had actually figured out that he was a mage!
Not wanting to be regarded as some kind of oddity, Lis decided it would be better to find somewhere else to have a proper conversation with Aya.
“Miss Liya, thanks for your help. I just remembered that there’s an emergency at home, so I’ll be going now!”
Without waiting for Liya to respond, he dragged Aya away at a run.

“Hey, why wouldn’t you let me say anything?”
Aya complained after Lis pulled her into a small alley outside the guild.
“I don’t want anyone to know that I’m a mage yet. You nearly let it slip!”
Lis sounded rather exasperated.
“I didn’t know! Why don’t you want people to know you’re a mage? Aren’t mages supposed to be really powerful?”
Aya looked a little embarrassed, then asked curiously.
“I have a rival. I don’t want him to know how strong I am. I plan to train in secret and defeat him in the end.”
Lis decided to deceive her with a simple excuse. She did not look particularly bright, after all.
Although Aya felt that something was off, she did not dwell on it.
“Then why do you want to learn the assassin’s techniques? Will that help you become stronger?”
“Not really. I can’t change classes and become an assassin anyway. I just want to learn how to use another weapon. Since the assassin instructor specializes in daggers, I thought I could practice with one.”
“Then I’ll teach you! I know how to use all sorts of weapons!”
Aya immediately perked up. Puffing out her chest proudly, she spoke to Lis.
Lis glanced at the broad, unbroken expanse before him. There was certainly plenty of room for improvement. After thinking it over, he decided there was no harm in asking.
“All right. What weapons can you use?”
“Would you like to learn the longsword?”
“No. I already know a little about it.”
“What about the spear?”
“No, I know a little about that too.”
“A saber?”
“No. I know a little about that one as well.”
…
When Aya realized that Lis already knew every weapon she could teach him—and did not want to learn any of them—she fell into deep thought. What else could she teach him? She genuinely did not know how to use a dagger.
From the way Aya spoke, Lis estimated that if she really was an advanced professional, she was most likely a Golden Warrior.
He thought of Welf, who had only barely broken through to the advanced warrior rank in his forties. Looking at the young girl’s collagen-rich face, he could not help sighing at the vast difference between people.
If Welf ever found out, he would probably be completely crushed.
Lis had not had time to think about it earlier, but Aya looked to be only around twenty. Though innocent and carefree, if she had already become a Golden Warrior, she was undoubtedly a peerless genius.
In the story, she would certainly occupy the position of a central protagonist, a chosen child of destiny!
I remember that in the main storyline of Divine Revelation…
A warrior-class professional…
Female…
Only around twenty when the story began…
Hiss—
Lis drew in a sharp breath, contributing his share to the warming of Gaia’s world.
If she really was the person he had in mind…
Then she was not merely someone whose coattails he could ride. She was a colossal powerhouse’s coattails—a golden opportunity beyond compare!
Lis knew that magical items capable of altering one’s appearance existed, but…
Looking at the girl’s adorable expression as she lowered her head in thought, he simply could not connect her with the valiant, decisive, resolute, broad-minded Valkyrie who would later dominate battlefields of tens of thousands.
“I’ve got it!”
Just as Lis was pondering, Aya seemed to have thought of something and cried out happily.
But when she raised her head, she saw Lis staring strangely at her thighs. A chill ran through her, and she hurriedly took a step back.
“What are you looking at?”
Lis, who had been considering how best to attach himself to the girl’s powerful support, came to his senses and hastily said, embarrassed, “Ah, nothing. I was just thinking about what delicious food to make for you later. After all, you’ve helped me so much!”
I owe you this favor, and you’re going to accept it whether you want to or not!
After all, if he really managed to secure her support, the trouble caused by the assassination during the Holy Sacrifice Festival would be nothing worth worrying about.
“Aw, you’re so nice!”
Aya happily gave Lis his first good-person card.
He wondered how many cards he would need to collect before he could turn himself into a permanent leg ornament.
“Do you want to learn the whip? I know how to use that too!” Aya had not forgotten their earlier conversation.
“The whip?” Lis was rather curious.
In the game Divine Revelation, there were an astonishing number of different weapons. Most people used common weapons such as sabers, spears, and swords. Even axes and hammers were relatively uncommon, to say nothing of an obscure weapon like the long whip.
But that was beside the point. Lis only needed proficiency with one new intermediate weapon to fulfill the requirements for his class specialization. He did not truly intend to use a whip in combat.
Still, the thought of having the future Valkyrie teach him how to wield a long whip was rather exciting.
“All right. I’ll learn the long whip from you!”
“Wonderful.”
Aya happily agreed. She had trained in martial techniques since childhood, but she had never been anyone’s teacher before.
Lis looked up at the darkening sky. The sun was about to set, so he said to Aya, “It’s getting late today. We’ll practice tomorrow. Let’s buy some ingredients and I’ll make you golden-thread shrimp balls tonight.”
“All right!”
Aya happily agreed, then pulled him toward the shops at the other end of Gedo Street, apparently afraid that Lis might change his mind, and began buying ingredients.
“I want this one. Get more!”
“I like this too. Put it in!”
“Lis, can you make this? I want to buy some of it too.”
…
After the two of them finished shopping, they had spent more than a dozen gold coins on a great many ingredients. Aya in particular became utterly immovable whenever she saw something she wanted to eat.
Lis carried the groceries behind Aya as they headed for the place where her team had rented lodgings.
Her companions were all busy that day, and there were no suitable commissions available, so Aya had been wandering around the mercenaries’ guild alone. That was why she had happened to meet Lis when he came to register as a mercenary.
In a sense, it was a kind of fate.
Fortunately, although no one on Aya’s team knew how to cook and they had not prepared any seasonings, they did at least have all kinds of cooking utensils. That saved Lis from having to carry an iron pot out of a shop and down the street.
“I’m back!”
Aya’s cheerful voice rang out as a three-story garden villa appeared before Lis.
