Chapter 59: Weekend Intensive Training

Long Tianwang left the laboratory satisfied. Before departing, he patted Xia Yu on the shoulder, expressing great confidence in the young man. He encouraged Xia Yu to seize the opportunity for intensive training with Long Yanneng and strive for a good result in the High School Cup, aiming to enter Imperial Capital University next year.
Grateful for Long Tianwang’s kindness, Xia Yu smiled and agreed to the one-on-one special training with Long Yanneng.
Such a rare opportunity, coupled with the fact that Long Yanneng was a stunning beauty, would be a dream come true for many. Yet Xia Yu tried his best to keep a safe distance from her.
“Teacher Long, I’ll start training now,” Xia Yu said, moving toward a nearby empty field to begin his exercises, deliberately keeping away from Long Yanneng. He was genuinely worried that the teacher might discover the true potential of his Pokémon and expose his secret. The last time Long Yanneng used a device to assess the aptitude of his Noibat, it startled Xia Yu greatly.
Xia Yu’s three Pokémon consisted of a top-tier Noibat, a near-champion Forest Lizard, and a near-champion Charmander.
If the extraordinary potential of these three Pokémon were revealed, Xia Yu might very well disappear by the next day. So he sincerely did not want to get too close to Long Yanneng; he wished to quietly develop and grow stronger on his own.
However, Xia Yu could not refuse Long Tianwang’s goodwill. Any normal person would not decline such a rare training opportunity. Refusing would only raise suspicion, as if he had something to hide, potentially backfiring by attracting more attention. So, gritting his teeth, he proceeded with the training alongside Long Yanneng.
“Why do you want to train so far away?” Long Yanneng frowned. Xia Yu’s apparent avoidance of her annoyed her somewhat. “This isn’t a group training class. You’re my only student.”
Xia Yu reluctantly nodded and silently returned to Long Yanneng’s side.
“Release your three Pokémon. Let me see how they’ve been training lately,” Long Yanneng said. After the events of yesterday and today, her impression of Xia Yu had improved considerably. She no longer looked down on his weak abilities and now genuinely wanted to help him enhance his strength. Moreover, she hoped Xia Yu could assist her with her peculiar Z-Crystal.
Xia Yu nodded and released his three Pokémon. The shimmering Charmander immediately caught Long Yanneng’s eye.
“Every time I see your shiny Charmander, I’m amazed. Shiny Pokémon are incredibly rare,” Long Yanneng said admiringly. She herself longed for a shiny Pokémon—perhaps a shiny Dracovish or a shiny Goodra—both of which were gorgeous.
Long Yanneng was only briefly surprised before she began carefully examining each of Xia Yu’s Pokémon, measuring their height and weight without missing a single detail. As a teacher, she was truly responsible; despite previously disliking Xia Yu, she treated him fairly.
“Your three Pokémon have developed very well and progressed quickly. Your efforts these past few days have not been in vain, but you must continue to persist,” she said.

“By the way, how have your Pokémon practiced the Dragon Breath move I taught yesterday?” After checking their physical condition, Long Yanneng remembered the move training class from the day before. Frowning, she asked Xia Yu, “Mastering a move isn’t enough; they must learn to use it proficiently. Half a day on Saturday is hardly enough for your Pokémon to truly grasp it. From now on, you can come to the lab every weekend. I will explain the move again in detail for you.”
Hearing this, Xia Yu’s head throbbed. Every weekend? How would he manage treasure hunts? Long Yanneng’s responsible attitude left him breathless, but she only did this out of genuine concern. Xia Yu couldn’t bear to refuse.
He silently resolved that treasure hunting wasn’t urgent; after finishing his paper on the exclusive Z-Crystal, he would reconsider.
“All right, Teacher Long.”
Long Yanneng placed one hand on her waist, highlighting her perfect figure and drawing Xia Yu’s gaze. Her slender waist was truly captivating.
Wait, what am I thinking?! Xia Yu tried to push the strange thoughts away, but the more he tried not to think about it, the clearer the image became in his mind.
“Xia Yu! Xia Yu!” Long Yanneng’s brows knit into a straight line, her arms crossed as she looked at him.
“Teacher Long, I’m here,” Xia Yu quickly responded.
“You need to rest and focus better,” she said without dwelling on his distraction. “Let’s start with your Charmander and Forest Lizard using Dragon Breath. Show me how well you’ve learned it.”
“All right, Charmander, you first—use Dragon Breath!” Xia Yu commanded.
“Woo!”
At Xia Yu’s signal, Charmander took a deep breath, its cheeks puffing up before suddenly releasing a stream of Dragon Breath.
Watching the entire process, Long Yanneng couldn’t help but compliment, “Very good. This Charmander has an excellent grasp of Dragon energy. Now, Forest Lizard’s turn.”
Xia Yu nodded and instructed Forest Lizard to release the Dragon Breath as well.

Compared to Charmander’s Dragon Breath, Forest Lizard’s was much faster. From inhaling to exhaling took only an instant, leaving observers no time to react. Moreover, the range of Forest Lizard’s Dragon Breath was much wider, and its destructive power greater.
It completely outclassed Charmander, which felt disheartened, as if a mountain were pressing down on it. Yet it vowed silently not to give up and to surpass Forest Lizard one day.
Seeing Forest Lizard’s Dragon Breath, a spark of admiration flashed in Long Yanneng’s eyes. This Forest Lizard’s talent for Dragon energy was extraordinary, surpassing most Dragon-type Pokémon. Coupled with its powerful physique, its aptitude was beyond imagination—almost flawless, a near-perfect Pokémon.
Its only flaw was that it wasn’t a Dragon-type Pokémon, Long Yanneng thought to herself. If Sceptile were Dragon-type, she might have wanted to capture it herself.
“Your Forest Lizard’s potential is excellent. With careful nurturing, it will be the key to whether you can make it to the national finals,” Long Yanneng sincerely praised.
For the remainder of the time, under Long Yanneng’s guidance, Xia Yu conducted targeted training with his three Pokémon.
It had to be said, Long Yanneng was truly skilled in training Dragon-type Pokémon. Especially since she owned a Noivern herself, her cultivation advice for Xia Yu’s Noibat was invaluable.
She also offered specific suggestions for Forest Lizard and Charmander, providing Xia Yu with great help.
