He stepped forward and pressed his hand against the red medical case. A pale blue panel instantly flickered into view.

Yes, the new "core component" Luca had found could synthesize none other than Baymax from *Big Hero 6*.

It was only a pity that this Baymax was not the combat-ready version upgraded by the protagonist Hiro Hamada, but rather the original medical version created by his older brother, Tadashi Hamada.

As for it being a "found" core component, that was technically accurate. During his time accompanying his mother, Gina, at the hospital, Luca had considered using his "cheat" to synthesize some sort of black-tech medical device to cure her. He figured the probability of finding a suitable "core component" for such a device would be much higher in a hospital setting.

Originally, he had set his sights on the hospital's existing equipment or various medications. Who would have guessed that, by a stroke of luck, this discarded, ordinary medical case would be the one to trigger his ability?

"This isn't bad either. The technology in *Big Hero 6* seems significantly more advanced than the reality of 2012. Perhaps the database of tens of thousands of medical procedures within Baymax holds a way to cure Gina."

"Even if it doesn't, having an easily modifiable combat unit is a solid backup plan."

Indeed, although the "friendly reminder" on the panel seemed to mock Luca's research capabilities, he was no amateur. While he couldn't replicate Hiro Hamada’s feat of turning Baymax into a low-spec Iron Man suit, adding some armor and uploading basic combat data was well within his reach.

The original owner of his current body had been mentored by his father, and having participated in numerous robotics competitions and built his own mechanical weapons, he was no novice. While he couldn't compete with the genius teenagers in the Marvel Universe who could forge advanced armor in a cave or a basement, he was certainly a prodigy by the standards of the ordinary world. Inheriting all of the original owner's memories, Luca was now, for all intents and purposes, an entry-level mechanical engineer.

Luca pulled his hand back from the case. He didn't bother looking for a paper cutter; he simply used his keys to slice open the large package delivered by the company. Inside lay a scattered assortment of the materials he needed. Given the uncertainty of the synthesis requirements, he had prepared these materials in various models and types.

After drawing a circle on the floor with chalk, he placed the red medical case solemnly in the center.

For the next step, however, Luca didn't reach for the custom carbon fiber skeleton or the inflatable doll he had ordered based on his own sketches. Instead, he pulled out a palm-sized robot skeleton and a cheap-looking Greninja inflatable toy of similar size.

The palm-sized skeleton was the simplest toy he had built as a child, recreated using his home 3D printer with carbon fiber. He chose these two seemingly mismatched items specifically to test the limits of his ability.

With a mix of anticipation and trepidation, Luca placed the skeleton—which could barely take two steps—into a separate smaller circle within the main array.

The next moment, the simple mechanical frame began to glow with a white light, which slowly linked up with the light emanating from the red medical case.

"It actually works?!"

Seeing this, even Luca was stunned. The original Baymax skeleton was complex and life-sized. Yet, his palm-sized frame was accepted just as easily.

"So, as long as the name matches and the item isn't strictly defined by size, anything can pass the test?"

"What about quantity? What about the law of conservation of mass?"

No sooner had he said that than Luca slapped himself.

"I'm an idiot. Why am I trying to apply the law of conservation of mass to a supernatural ability? The more broken it is, the better!"

He touched his cheek—the slap had stung, so he opted for a gentle tap for the sake of the thought, producing no sound at all.

His gaze returned to the array. Once the mechanical frame was confirmed, he placed the Greninja inflatable toy into another circle.

However, this time, the toy did not light up.

"???"

"What's going on? You look down on Greninja? It’s a humanoid Pokémon with arms and legs!"

Refusing to give up, Luca swapped the Greninja for an Ultraman figure of similar size. This time, the toy finally lit up, and the white light connected.

"What kind of mysterious logic is this?"

"Whatever, as long as it works."

Though there were still many mysteries regarding his ability, he had made progress. Without dwelling on it, he recorded his findings and placed the rest of the custom materials into the array: the smart chip containing a single medical textbook, the aluminum-canned medical spray, a semi-finished lithium battery from a lab, a low-precision scanner, and a grainy, low-resolution miniature projector.

There were no more surprises; every item passed the check.

The massive circular array was now filled with blinding white light. Luca pressed both hands onto the edge of the circle and whispered, "Synthesize."

The white light surged, then violently contracted.

In the end, only a completely transformed red medical case remained in the center of the array.
