Chapter 47: All of you, go to hell!
"Northwest, target eliminated!"
"Northeast, target eliminated!"
A series of elimination reports echoed through the communication channel. In the blink of an eye, all the watchtower guards had been systematically picked off one by one by the sniper's longbow.
"Good job, keep covering our advance."
Shield Mountain, who had just finished cutting through the barbed wire, offered a perfunctory compliment. As teammates who had executed countless missions together, Shield Mountain felt zero surprise at Longbow's ability to dispatch targets with such swift efficiency.
"Tarantula, Green Bull, we'll clear the outer patrol first. Wrench, report status and keep an eye on enemy movements inside the building."
With that, Shield Mountain took the lead, stepping through the fence, his muzzle pressed slightly downward as he rapidly hugged the exterior wall of the building.
"Two enemies at ten o'clock," Wrench reported quickly through the headset.
The three of them raised their weapons simultaneously.
"Tat-tat-tat—"
"Three enemies, thirty meters ahead around the corner."
"Tat-tat-tat—"
Crisp gunfire rang out periodically. By the time Shamira and Longbow teamed up to snipe the two gangsters at the front gate guardhouse, only seven or eight minutes had passed.
"Outer enemies all eliminated! Thresh, bring the young master and follow behind us."
"Got... got it!"
Thresh cast an awkward glance at Luca, who was staring intently at the distant building, and called out softly.
"Young master Luca, the captain tells us to keep up."
Hearing this, Luca gave a slight nod, then led Baymax along to follow them.
Inside, however, Luca was already feeling extremely satisfied with this tactical squad. Although Shamira's strong recommendation had previously given him a rough idea that their capabilities shouldn't be underestimated, seeing them accomplish their tactical objectives with such clean and ruthless efficiency still made him view them in a completely new light.
*Perhaps I should consider making some stronger high-tech gadgets for Alpha Team later on,* Luca thought to himself.
Of course, that was a matter for the future. Right now, Luca didn't even have a clue about how to synthesize those high-tech gadgets, let alone replicate them.
Meanwhile, having wiped out all the external enemies, Shield Mountain and the others reloaded their magazines without waiting in place for Luca's group to catch up. Instead, they continued communicating with Wrench through their comms.
"Wrench, give me an entry point into the building."
"That small window on the southeast side is clear of guards and patrols. You can try entering from there, it shouldn't be too—wait! Someone's coming!"
Far away inside the news van, Wrench, who was confirming the entry route for the team, caught a sudden glimpse out of the corner of his eye on the surveillance monitor: a black sedan was slowly driving toward the front entrance of the building.
"Black Mercedes S600, bulletproof variant, entering the front gate in ten seconds."
Shield Mountain, who had already left the entryway guardhouse, instantly turned serious. Since their original mission objective was the complete annihilation of the enemy, they hadn't bothered to dispose of the bodies they had previously dropped. The moment that black Mercedes drove up to the guardhouse, the problem would be immediately exposed.
Furthermore, Shield Mountain knew that particular model of Mercedes possessed a VR7-grade ballistic protection level; even three or four grenades exploding simultaneously couldn't pose a threat to it.
Making a split-second decision, Shield Mountain barked orders to everyone.
"Green Bull, rig the warehouse front door with explosives. Longbow, keep your eyes on that car. The moment anyone opens a door, eliminate the target!"
"Everyone, prepare for a forcible assault!"
At this point, Shield Mountain didn't care whether the newcomers were Kingpin's accomplices or subordinates, nor did he care about collateral damage. In the dead of night, anyone driving a bulletproof luxury car to visit someone like Kingpin deserved whatever fate befell them if Longbow sniped them.
Just as he finished issuing the order, the black Mercedes was already nearing the outer front gate.
Yet, perhaps having sensed something amiss, the black Mercedes abruptly slammed on the brakes, stopping short without moving another inch.
Just as everyone stared anxiously toward the entrance, the voices of Wrench and Luca rang out in the headsets simultaneously.
"There's abnormal movement inside the building, we've been compromised!"
"Six men are rushing toward the warehouse front door!"
Hearing this, Shield Mountain instantly realized that the occupants of the car had noticed the anomalies outside the building and alerted the others indoors.
No longer willing to gamble on whether the people inside the VR7-grade bulletproof car would voluntarily step out, he patted Green Bull on the shoulder and snapped his command.
"Green Bull! Detonate the charges!"
Green Bull let out a sinister grin upon receiving the order and instantly pressed the button in his hand.
Immediately following:
"BOOM——"
A deafening explosion echoed out, a massive orange-red fireball filling everyone's vision.
The luxurious doors of the warehouse building were blasted into powder in a fraction of a second. The shattered debris flying outward tore the six enemies rushing out from behind the door completely to shreds.
Right at that moment, while everyone's ears were still ringing from the violent blast, Wrench's voice roared through the comms again.
"That car is starting up! It's trying to ram its way inside the building!!"
Shield Mountain, his nose and mouth still filled with the acrid smell of gunpowder, didn't even need to think twice to understand the enemy's intent.
*They're trying to force their way in and extract the target!*
Even though they still didn't know why this car had appeared by such a coincidence at this exact moment, the enemy's intention to rescue Kingpin could not have been more obvious.
Shield Mountain roared at the top of his lungs.
"Charge, stop him!!"
With that, Shield Mountain raised his carbine, broke out of cover, and sprinted toward the black Mercedes.
While piercing the car's armor with small arms fire alone was practically impossible, he could at least ensure that the enemies wouldn't be able to enter or leave the Mercedes.
However, just as he raised his gun and lunged forward, a dark shadow burst out from afar, slamming directly into the path of the Mercedes.
The next instant:
"Bang—"
A dull, heavy sound of violent impact echoed.
Yet the dark shadow blocking the Mercedes' path wasn't sent flying; instead, its arms tightly embraced the hood of the car, its feet plowing two deep trenches into the hard concrete pavement.
Though the shadow was steadily pushed backward, it forcefully halted the vehicle's ferocious momentum in its tracks.
The screech of tires grinding against the ground rang out continuously, white smoke and a burning smell rapidly filling the air, yet the vehicle remained utterly unable to advance another inch.
"Holy shit! It's Agent Baymax!" Green Bull cried out in astonishment.
Even Shield Mountain fell into a brief daze.
The next moment, however, a dense barrage of gunfire accompanied by wild, maniacal laughter instantly lashed out toward the immobilized Mercedes.
In the distance, the bald, burly man wielding an M249 SAW squad automatic weapon was squeezing the trigger for all he was worth, stepping steadily forward toward the Mercedes.
"Hahahahaha—die! Die! Hahahahaha—all of you bastards, go to hell!!"
Thresh cackled like a madman, the flame from his muzzle never halting for a fraction of a second.
Despite the light machine gun weighing over ten kilograms with its 200-round drum magazine attached, and the massive recoil generated by continuous fire, it remained as steady as a rock in Thresh's hands.
He let a waterfall of spent casings fly rapidly past his eyes.
Dense bullet holes were evenly distributed across the side of the black Mercedes, not grazing Baymax, who was still single-handedly holding the vehicle back, by even a millimeter.
And right at that moment, Luca, trailing close behind Thresh, raised the [Dominator] in his hand.
His lips parted slightly.
"Activate, Destroyer / Deconstructor Mode!"
