Chapter 117: Playing on a Grand Scale

SY Corporation boasts abundant financial resources. Although based in Jiangcheng, it has expanded its operations considerably in the capital city in recent years. Yet, the rumored president remains an enigma, never once making a public appearance.
Sometimes, Song Qingyou would joke with herself, thinking SY’s approach was no different from how she managed Qingning.
Undermining the Song Group was a necessary step to sideline Song Yuan and Song Shi, but the Group was her grandfather’s legacy—she would never allow it to collapse so easily.
The best investment injection she could envision, and the one capable of helping Song Group secure financing, was SY.
“SY?” Yan Miao was taken aback. “Why don’t you go to Fu Wenzhou instead?”
With a hint of amusement, Song Qingyou asked, “Why do you all think that whenever there’s trouble, I have to turn to him?”
Yan Miao replied, “Because he’d be willing to fund you willingly.”
Song Qingyou sighed, “He might be willing, but Fu’s business fields don’t overlap with Song’s. If he finances me, Fu’s company gains nothing. SY is different—they are developing fields that align perfectly with what I plan to pursue next. If I can secure a partnership with SY, it’s a win-win.”
Yan Miao wasn’t well-versed in business affairs and felt that Song Qingyou was complicating matters unnecessarily by reaching so far. He opened his mouth to say more but was cut off.
“Yan Miao, women don’t have to rely on men. He has his career; I have mine. There’s no need to make him sacrifice interests unnecessarily because of me. I can solve the current crisis without him. Business is business; feelings are feelings. They shouldn’t be mixed,” Song Qingyou said with a soft laugh. “Feelings are about equality, not demands. I can’t keep running to Fu Wenzhou every time trouble arises.”
Moreover, SY was her carefully evaluated backup plan. She intended to transfer half of the shares held by Song Shi and Song Yuan to SY, allowing them to enter with dry shares and jointly develop new fields—that was her true goal.
Fu Group had always focused on traditional industries like real estate, hotels, tourism, and department stores, which didn’t align with the reform she planned for Song Group.
Even if Fu Wenzhou financed her, the subsequent project introductions would have to start from scratch—far more troublesome.
SY’s financing wouldn’t just bring money; it would bring a ready team and projects.
Currently, Ding Sheng’s pharmaceutical research was progressing well, inspiring Song Qingyou to explore chip and AI development.
SY had been researching AI and chips for years, perfectly matching her vision.
The only question was whether SY was willing to wade into the troubled waters of Song Group.
Lost in thought, she was brought back by Fu Wenzhou calling her. “What’s up?”
“Yoyo, come play cards,” Fu Wenzhou’s eyes twinkled mischievously—he looked like he had just won big.
In contrast, Gu Bai looked dejected. “Come on, this mahjong game is no fun. Your man’s taken all the wins. Let’s switch to poker. Yan Shao, you in? Sitting out is boring.”
Yan Shaoqin finally tore his gaze away from his phone. “Sorry, I just closed a multi-billion project. Not bored at all.”
Gu Bai was speechless.

No chance to chat today.
Yan Shaoqin leisurely stood up and, passing by Song Qingyou, casually asked, “You don’t know who SY’s president is?”
Song Qingyou blinked. “Should I?”
Yan Shaoqin’s gaze darkened enigmatically as he stared at her for a few seconds. Before he could speak, his collar was yanked backward.
Turning around, he saw Fu Wenzhou blocking Song Qingyou protectively. “What are you staring at?”
“Stare at you, what else?” Yan Shaoqin sneered, ignoring the overprotective madman.
Song Qingyou rubbed Fu Wenzhou’s sleeve wearily. “Are you going to play or not?”
When Fu Wenzhou looked at her, his eyes softened for a moment. “I will, if you play with me.”
“All right,” she agreed, then called out to Yan Miao, “Miao Miao, join us.”
Yan Miao didn’t know mahjong but was somewhat familiar with cards and happily agreed.
Liang Muchuan kindly advised Gu Bai, “Are you sure you want to let the couple team up?”
“Absolutely,” Gu Bai replied confidently, determined to reclaim everything he’d lost to Fu Wenzhou through his wife.
Thinking of this, Gu Bai was like a fighting rooster, rubbing his hands eagerly for a comeback.
Liang Muchuan and Xu Zezhan exchanged a glance filled with sympathy.
Song Qingyou sat beside Fu Wenzhou; Yan Miao and Yan Shaoqin sat on the same side.
Gu Bai, seeing everyone seated, boldly declared, “Here’s the plan: you three play three rounds against Yan Miao. After that, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
Song Qingyou hesitated, looking at Gu Bai with a complicated expression. “Are you sure? Maybe we should just play normally.”
Gu Bai raised an eyebrow. “No way. If I let you win, and word gets out, people will say I’m bullying you because you don’t know how to play.”
Fu Wenzhou snorted, his hand under the table squeezing Song Qingyou’s slender waist. His lazy voice drawled, “Ignore this idiot. If he wants to let you win, fine. When he cries about losing later, it’s Xu Zezhan who’ll suffer, not us.”
Hearing this, Song Qingyou said no more. Her gaze swept over Gu Bai, still bragging, and Xu Zezhan, who rubbed his forehead with a helpless look.
Suddenly struck with inspiration, she looked at both men with new meaning.
Before the three rounds were up, Gu Bai was furious, like a lion with its mane on fire. Forget letting them win—he lost two rounds straight to Song Qingyou. Worse, every time she needed a specific tile, Gu Bai would inexplicably discard it for her.
Unbelievable.

Gu Bai refused to accept defeat and became more obsessed as the game went on. After losing a few more rounds, he finally bet his romantic prospects. “If I lose again, I’m not dating anyone this year!”
He simply refused to believe he could keep losing.
Yan Shaoqin clicked his tongue. “Going big, huh?”
Xu Zezhan narrowed his eyes. “Not dating anyone?”
“Exactly!” Gu Bai snapped.
“Fine,” Xu Zezhan replied indifferently.
In the following rounds, Gu Bai lost not only to Song Qingyou but also no longer received any help from Xu Zezhan. His play became even more difficult. He discreetly kicked Xu Zezhan several times under the table, signaling what he needed. No matter how hard he kicked, Xu Zezhan remained steady as a rock.
Gu Bai was speechless.
“Damn it!” After another loss, Gu Bai angrily threw down his cards. “I’m done! You all must be cheating.”
Fu Wenzhou tapped the table with his knuckles, raising a brow lazily. “Can’t win and accuse others of cheating—how pathetic.”
Gu Bai’s face flushed with frustration, especially toward Xu Zezhan, who had fed him winning tiles every year. Even when he lost, it wasn’t every round. Why suddenly no help this year?
Song Qingyou cleared her throat gently. “I can count cards.”
“What?” Gu Bai froze.
She repeated, “I can count cards. I know what you have in your hand.”
“...Damn!” Gu Bai threw his head back and howled. “Why didn’t you say so earlier?”
“Well, you never asked,” Song Qingyou blinked innocently, her eyes shimmering like water.
Gu Bai patted his chest, trying to calm himself. “It’s okay. At least you’re the only one who can count.”
Fu Wenzhou smirked lazily. “Gu Bai, you’re the only one who can’t.”
Gu Bai was speechless.
