Song Qingyou had a meeting at ten o'clock. It was just past eight-thirty, and after checking the time, she decided she had plenty of time and was in no rush.

Fu Wenzhou finished washing the dishes and went upstairs to find Song Qingyou. Seeing her hunched over, opening his suitcase, he happily stepped forward and hugged her from behind. "Youyou, since I'm so handsome, why didn't you fall for me sooner? Is it because you lack an eye for beauty?"

Song Qingyou was already accustomed to his bizarre, golden retriever-like train of thought. "It's because I have a built-in radar for identifying idiots."

Fu Wenzhou was displeased. "What is that supposed to mean? Are you calling me a vase?"

After checking the contents, Song Qingyou packed a few extra thick garments and a scarf for him. "You’re a little better than a vase; you can move."

Seeing her stand up, Fu Wenzhou moved closer, rubbing his nose against the nape of her neck. "Will you miss me?"

Song Qingyou’s movements froze for a moment, then she said in a low voice, "I will."

A smile bloomed in Fu Wenzhou’s eyes. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close, and affectionately kissed her earlobe. "Admit it, you just love me very much."

"..." Song Qingyou pushed him away and picked up the cat from the floor. "I meant Zhouzhou will miss you."

Fu Wenzhou’s expression darkened, and he gave a cold snort. "Pretending to be indifferent."

Song Qingyou’s lips curled slightly. Realizing she was smiling, she cleared her throat as if to cover it up. "It’s getting late, aren't you leaving yet?"

Fu Wenzhou’s face fell. "You're kicking me out?"

Song Qingyou laughed. "Yes, I am. If you don't go, I will; I have a meeting at the Song Corporation later."

Fu Wenzhou looked unhappy. "We are about to be apart for a whole week, and you don't have a shred of attachment to me. In your heart, I’m not even as important as a meeting..."

Seeing him about to start acting up again, Song Qingyou shot him a glance. "Say one more word, and I won't come to pick you up when you return."

Fu Wenzhou’s eyes widened in shock; he was furious but dared not argue back. In the end, he stomped downstairs, his incredibly handsome face filled with indignation. Once at the door, he pestered her for another ten minutes of kissing before finally leaving.

During the meeting, Song Qingyou glanced out the window and caught a glimpse of what looked like a long, thin line of white mist. She couldn't help but smile. The people below were stunned; everyone knew that Ms. Song was famous for her cold demeanor. In every meeting, she would deliver sharp, cutting remarks with a soft, gentle voice, but they had never seen her smile. The fact that she was smiling today left everyone in a state of wonder even after the meeting concluded.

When she got home that night, Song Qingyou had just finished washing up and laid down in bed when she received a video call from Fu Wenzhou. She answered with a smile.

"You arrived?"

His deep, magnetic voice came through the earpiece. "I arrived a long time ago. It’s colder here than back home. Youyou, I miss you."

Song Qingyou was momentarily speechless. "We’ve been apart for less than ten hours."

Fu Wenzhou snorted. "I still miss you."

Song Qingyou covered her mouth, her eyes filled with a gentle, shallow smile. "Then what should we do?"

"Darling," Fu Wenzhou called out. His voice was low, lazy, and his breathing sounded incredibly seductive, piercing through the earpiece into Song Qingyou's eardrums.

Song Qingyou’s throat moved involuntarily as she stared intently at the screen. "Hmm?"

The man’s raspy voice spoke slowly, "Wife, I have insomnia. Can you sing me to sleep?"

That night, all of Song Qingyou’s sleepiness was swept away by that one word, "wife." She lay in bed, listening to the hum of the heater, feeling as though the temperature had been set too high, which was why her body felt hot and her heart was racing. Song Qingyou loved hearing him use such intimate endearments; it felt as if, through them, they truly belonged to each other.

That night, she couldn't resist his persistent pestering and ended up humming a song to lull him to sleep.

Over the next few days, Fu Wenzhou would video call her every night. Even if they didn't speak and just looked at each other, Song Qingyou felt an immense sense of peace. With the Song Corporation's business gradually getting back on track, she was in a fairly good mood and was willing to spend the time and energy indulging her "puppy."

A week isn't long, but it isn't short either. During this time, Song Chang retired, and the house he and Liu Rong had purchased was handed over, so the two moved in together. Fu Bei officially took over Song Chang’s duties, becoming Song Qingyou's trusted aide.

The people trained by Fu Wenzhou were naturally highly capable; the matter involving Chen Chuan was resolved discreetly under Fu Bei’s handling. Song Qingyou was quite satisfied with him; he was a man of few words and absolute obedience.

On Saturday afternoon, Song Qingyou received a call from Liang Muchuan, saying that Liang Jingkang had been released from prison and the Liang family was hosting a dinner to thank her. Song Qingyou refused. The Liang family had traded their descendants' future in politics to save Liang Jingkang's life; she didn't feel she had done much to help in that regard. She had only offered a suggestion. She would not accept credit where none was due. Besides, she had to pick up Fu Wenzhou later.

After leaving the Song Corporation, Song Qingyou called Fu Wenzhou to ask for his specific arrival time, but strangely, no one answered. Frowning slightly, she turned to Fu Bei. "Give me Fu Nan’s phone number."

Fu Bei didn't say a word; he simply handed over his phone. Song Qingyou found Fu Nan in the contacts and dialed.

"Fu Bei, what’s wrong?"

"Where is Fu Wenzhou?"

There was a pause of a few seconds, then he replied, "Madam, Young Master Fu is in a meeting."

Song Qingyou asked, "Isn't he returning to the country today? It’s not over yet?"

A burst of noise came from the other end, and soon, a different voice replaced the first—low, raspy, and possessing that signature, lazy charm of Fu Wenzhou’s. "Youyou, I can't make it back today. The partner for this deal is a bit difficult; they won't sign the contract, so it might take a few more days."

Hearing Fu Wenzhou’s voice, her heart settled. She asked gently, "Is it very troublesome?"

Fu Wenzhou laughed with a carefree air. "A little. Why, is my darling going to fly over and solve it for me?"

Seeing he was still in the mood to joke, Song Qingyou breathed a sigh of relief. It didn't seem to be anything too serious. "Alright then, keep busy."

"Did you miss me?"

Just as Song Qingyou was about to hang up, the man suddenly spoke. She paused, then asked, "You want to know?"

"I do."

"Then come home early," Song Qingyou said, self-consciously touching her earlobe. "I'll tell you when you get back."

The man chuckled softly and said, "Okay."

Even after the call ended, Song Qingyou still felt a faint, tingling sensation in her ear. Fu Bei stood behind her, eyes fixed straight ahead, and took back the phone. "Madam, are we going to the airport?"

Song Qingyou shook her head. "Back to Yalin Residence."

Receiving his instructions, Fu Bei opened the car door for her. Once she was seated, he walked around to the driver's seat. Although Fu Wenzhou had been gone for a week, Song Qingyou still felt a bit unaccustomed to the darkness of the house when she returned.

The little cat circled her legs, meowing affectionately. Song Qingyou bent down to pick up Zhouzhou, rubbing the kitten’s fluffy head. "Your master isn't coming home today, so it's just the two of us again."

She moved through the vast villa, pouring cat food and water for the kitten. Her frame looked slender and fragile; it was as if she only found a spark of vitality when Fu Wenzhou was around. With him gone, her silhouette appeared even lonelier.

The kitten seemed to sense this, nuzzling its head against its owner’s palm, its two eyes round and wide, licking the back of Song Qingyou’s hand with its tongue. Feeling ticklish, Song Qingyou gently pulled away, put Zhouzhou down, and picked up the medical book she had been reading to continue where she left off.
