Chapter 156: Helping Him Cut His Hair
Xu Zezhan and Gu Bai left on the fifth day. Song Qingyou offered to drive them to the airport, but both of them declined, telling her and Fu Wenzhou to stay and recuperate properly here.
They would come to pick them up at the airport on the day they returned to the country.
Song Qingyou did not insist. She saw them off at the door and then turned back to find Fu Wenzhou.
When she entered, Yun Nian was changing Fu Wenzhou's dressing.
Yun Nian's medicine was very effective. Five days had passed, and the wounds on Fu Wenzhou's body were already beginning to scab over, looking much better than before.
The moment Fu Wenzhou saw Song Qingyou, his eyes lit up: "Youyou, why did it take you so long to see them off?"
Song Qingyou walked over, took his outstretched hand, and habitually stroked the ends of his hair with her palm: "I chatted with them for a bit, which delayed me a little."
Fu Wenzhou let out a cold snort, the pad of his thumb rubbing against the soft flesh of her palm: "What is there to talk about with them?"
"Yes, yes, yes, there is only something to talk about with you." Yun Nian chimed in unceremoniously out of nowhere.
The air fell silent for a fraction of a second.
Yun Nian stood there dumbfounded, raising his head awkwardly: "I'm sorry, I accidentally said my inner monologue out loud."
Fu Wenzhou let out a cold laugh, a smile that didn't reach his eyes: "You know quite a lot."
Yun Nian thought he was praising him and beamed with an innocent and naive expression, "My master left me many books. I learned from reading them."
"What kind of books?" Song Qingyou asked, wondering if there were ancient texts or something similar.
Yun Nian listed: "The Overbearing CEO's Little Darling, The CEO's 99-Day Locked Marriage, The Wise Man Never Falls in Love, and 100 Days of Rejected Love: The CEO's Private Secretary. Oh, and there's another one called The 100 Ways for a Substitute to Die. I quite like that one; the female lead in it can even read minds!"
Yun Nian looked very excited, appearing to genuinely like them.
"..."
"..."
The two of them fell into a bizarre silence simultaneously.
Yun Nian asked blankly: "What's wrong?"
The veins on Fu Wenzhou's forehead throbbed faintly, and he spat out a few words coldly through his teeth: "Who on earth is your master?"
Yun Nian: "Yun Fang, of course!"
"You'd better not be lying to me." Fu Wenzhou narrowed his eyes slightly, his thin lips uttering words as cold as ice.
Song Qingyou let out a chuckle, looking at Yun Nian with great interest: "Aren't you a monk?"
Yun Nian smiled sheepishly: "Not really, actually. My master wasn't one either; he was expelled from his sect back then because he broke the precept against alcohol."
Song Qingyou nodded thoughtfully: "So that's how it was."
Fu Wenzhou's face darkened, and he almost vomited blood.
What on earth was this creature he had brought out of the Misty Forest through all kinds of unimaginable hardships?
He asked with some concern: "When are you going to treat my wife?"
Yun Nian pursed his lips and corrected him: "I wanted to tell you last time, but you haven't even registered your marriage with Sister... with Song Qingyou. Why do you keep calling her your wife? That's not right of you. Don't you think it's very presumptuous?"
"Thank you, I don't think so." Fu Wenzhou said expressionlessly, "Don't forget what you promised me in the Misty Forest."
Yun Nian curled his lips: "I know. Rest assured, I said I would do it, and I will."
Song Qingyou laughed in amusement: "Don't listen to him, he's just trying to scare you."
Yun Nian's eyes immediately curved into crescents: "Sister is still the best."
Fu Wenzhou really wanted to kick him out: "Who told you to call her sister?"
Song Qingyou bent her finger and flicked Fu Wenzhou on the forehead, her tone helpless yet doting: "He is fifteen, and I am twenty-five. If he doesn't call me sister, what should he call me? Can you stop being so blindly jealous?"
Yun Nian: "Huh? Sister, he told me his wife is twenty-four. Could it be that he doesn't even remember your age?"
Fu Wenzhou gritted his teeth and said: "Stop talking nonsense, damn it! When did I ever say Youyou was twenty-four? Wasn't that just your own guess?"
"But you didn't deny it."
"I simply couldn't be bothered to dignify you with a response!"
"Oh."
"Oh your damn head! I..."
"Fu Wenzhou." Song Qingyou said calmly.
Fu Wenzhou instantly shut his mouth obediently, raising his head with a wronged expression: "Youyou, he's trying to sow discord between us. His intentions are utterly malicious."
Song Qingyou slapped him on the back of the head: "Lie down and rest."
"Yo—"
Song Qingyou shot him a look, and Fu Wenzhou instantly wilted. Too angry to voice his grievances, he obediently lay back down.
Yun Nian grinned broadly, finding it even more joyful to see Fu Wenzhou thwarted than escaping the Misty Forest.
He hadn't expected this death-defying, reckless bastard to actually be afraid of his wife!
Yun Nian felt refreshed. Having spent so many days with someone like Fu Wenzhou, who had a violent temper and would draw a knife at the slightest disagreement, he had suffered quite a bit of grief.
At this moment, he hummed a song cheerfully and said to Song Qingyou, "Come with me, I'll get something for you."
"Okay." Song Qingyou followed Yun Nian outside, ignoring Fu Wenzhou's aggrieved gaze.
In the corridor, Yun Nian said as they walked: "Your illness is a chronic root cause stemming from birth. Your mother should have frequently drank alcohol during pregnancy, and perhaps even consumed prohibited substances like sleeping pills, which led to your heart damage after birth. But every disaster escaped leaves one with a blessing for the future."
At the mention of Song Ning, a trace of sorrow flashed across the depths of Song Qingyou's eyes, fleeting instantly: "Hmm?"
Yun Nian said happily: "You met me! I can cure your illness!"
Song Qingyou couldn't help laughing along: "Yes, I am very fortunate."
Yun Nian: "However, your illness is an inveterate disease that cannot be cured all at once. We can only slowly recuperate your body first, and then decide how to proceed with the medication based on your physical recovery progress later."
"I know that," Song Qingyou said.
Yun Nian had long seen that Song Qingyou knew some medical skills, and she should be considered the talented type. Although he didn't know why she hadn't pursued it persistently, Yun Nian thought that she, like his master, must have more important things to do.
He pushed open the door, entered the room, and rummaged through the bundle he had brought with him. After searching back and forth for a long time, he found a medicine bottle and handed it to Song Qingyou: "This is the medication for your first stage. The effect of this medicine is about the same as the heart-protecting pills your teacher gave you, but mine is a bit more perfect."
Yun Nian said proudly: "Your teacher's version was the introductory edition, but mine is the ultimate edition!"
Song Qingyou took it and smiled: "Thank you for your ultimate edition."
"You're welcome. Saving the dying and healing the wounded is the duty of a medical practitioner." Yun Nian waved his hand.
"Oh, right." Song Qingyou took a mobile phone and a small booklet from her bag: "For you. This booklet contains the usage instructions I drew out. If there's anything you still don't understand, you can ask me directly."
It was Yun Nian's first time receiving a gift from someone. After being stunned for a few seconds, he was almost moved to tears: "Sister, you're so nice. You're the best person to me besides my master and that damn bastard."
"Damn bastard?" Song Qingyou asked, puzzled.
Yun Nian nodded: "Your husband."
"..." Song Qingyou pursed her lips: "A very unique form of address."
Yun Nian said: "But I can't accept your gift for nothing. Master said that's not good."
Song Qingyou raised the medicine bottle in her hand: "Your gift is much more precious than the one I gave you."
Yun Nian's cheeks flushed, and he lowered his head shyly: "I made this myself, it's not expensive at all."
"Things you make yourself are the most precious," Song Qingyou said with a smile, "I'm going upstairs first. He'll start getting anxious soon."
"Okay!"
After Song Qingyou went out, she asked the front desk for a pair of scissors on her way.
Fu Wenzhou's hair was too long; it was time for a trim.
