Supermarket Smashed and People Beaten
"Just leaving like this?" the Phoenix's voice echoed within Xie Wuji's elixir field and abdominal sea.
Xie Wuji said, "Such is human nature. If a person does bad things all his life and only one good deed, he is considered a good man. If a person does good things all his life and commits a single evil deed, he is branded as utterly wicked."
"What you did wasn't a bad deed. You didn't directly harm Zhu Feifei; you merely rejected a woman who once hurt you when she tried to reconcile," the Phoenix remarked.
Xie Wuji sighed, "But in Aunt Zhu's eyes, I am the villain. Because her daughter jumped and I didn't stop her, I am guilty of the most heinous crime."
In truth, Xie Wuji could not have stopped her. After getting Zhu Feifei settled at the hospital and leaving to attend to his own matters, there was nothing inherently wrong with his actions.
Yet human nature is simply like this: the world can tolerate those who turn back from the shore, but it can never forgive a single stumble on the path.
"Where do you want to go now?" the Phoenix asked.
After a long pause, Xie Wuji replied, "Find the spirit spring first, and then find Zou Tianhua."
Just at that moment, Lao Wang from the convenience store suddenly called, "Hello, is this Wuji?"
"Brother Wang, I'm here. Has something happened over there?" Xie Wuji asked.
Lao Wang said, "I've finally reached you. You'd better come take a look at the store... It's all, it's all destroyed... Good heavens!"
A bad premonition gripped Xie Wuji. He immediately headed back to the convenience store, but the shop beneath his rented apartment was already in absolute ruins.
Several female clerks were squatting in a corner crying, while Lao Wang stood smoking a cigarette.
Xie Wuji walked over, and Lao Wang spotted him instantly. He handed Xie Wuji a cigarette and helped him light it. "Take a look, Wuji... This evening, a group of people suddenly showed up and smashed the entire store to pieces!"
Xie Wuji felt a knot of anxiety in his stomach, because this was the very first business he had ever invested in within the mortal world! Moreover, the store was doing exceptionally well, and since items from the other realm were also immensely popular, this was his livelihood.
Stepping inside was like walking into a garbage dump; the place was in utter, irrecoverable chaos.
The wine bottles in the display rack had been knocked over, nearly all of them shattered, leaving the floor littered with jagged glass shards.
The puffed snacks had all been trampled flat, surrounded by smashed toys and the claw machine Xie Wuji had recently purchased, which was now battered beyond recognition.
Trembling with rage, Lao Wang blew out a ring of smoke and said, "Wuji, what do you think we should do about this? With the store in this state, we can't open for business. And the young ladies working here just arrived in Beijing; you know that losing a job in Beijing means going hungry."
"Boss Xie, what are we supposed to do..."
One of the clerks had a scrape on her forehead, but looking at the surrounding devastation, she completely forgot about her own minor injury and was already sobbing uncontrollably.
"Who did this?" Xie Wuji asked quietly, struggling to suppress his blazing fury.
Lao Wang shook his head. "Who else could it be? It has to be your old rivals. I recognized one of them—it was Zou Tianhua..."
"It's him again." Xie Wuji clenched his fists tightly.
All thoughts of searching for the spirit spring vanished from Xie Wuji's mind. He said, "Clean this place up. Tomorrow, we'll restock the inventory. I need to go have a proper talk with Zou Tianhua."
"Those people are a bunch of savages. If you go looking for them, Wuji, isn't that walking right into the tiger's den? That's not realistic..." Lao Wang kindly advised.
Xie Wuji shook his head. "I know what I'm doing."
With that, Xie Wuji left the store. Once outside, he immediately put on a face mask, checked that the surroundings were clear of people and surveillance cameras, and channeled spiritual energy into his legs. Like a rocket, he instantly shot straight up into the sky.
The evening darkness was growing thicker by the moment, but night in Beijing was merely beginning. Xie Wuji soared up to the rooftop of the Zou Corporation's headquarters, where he saw a party underway on the top floor.
Xie Wuji's brows knitted tightly as he spotted Zou Tianhua among the crowd, alongside Mo Minna standing right beside him.
Quietly landing in a corner of the rooftop, Xie Wuji tapped a guest's sleep-inducing acupoint and dragged him into a secluded nook of the rooftop's small garden.
The roof of the Zou Corporation building was extremely luxurious, adorned with various trees and even a stunning artificial fountain.
The guests included numerous car models and internet celebrities, all possessing flawless faces, while the air was thick with a pungent perfume.
Xie Wuji slipped into the unconscious guest's suit jacket, combed back his hair, and blended into the crowd.
"Honestly, my spare-tire boyfriend wanted to gift me a Mercedes for Valentine's Day, but who cares about a Mercedes? He clearly promised to buy me a Bentley, but now he seems to have changed his mind! Hmph!"
"You can say that again. There's not a single good man in this world. Take my husband, for instance—he bought the latest DD bags for his mistresses on the side, but when it comes to me, he only buys a single tube of lipstick and claims it's a limited edition. I bet his soul has been hooked by those little vixens! If it weren't for his family's fortune, I would have divorced him ages ago!"
The women's conversations inevitably revolved around men, portraying them as parasites, while the glamorous men played the prey.
However, standing somewhat apart was a woman of above-average appearance yet refined demeanor, quietly sipping red wine by herself as she gazed out at the Beijing nightscape.
"Minmin, why aren't you going over to join the fun?" Mo Minna approached her.
"I don't like noisy crowds. I'm only here this time to protect you, Sister. You're pregnant and yet you still come to join this kind of ruckus," the woman replied.
Mo Minna smiled faintly. "I'm drinking coconut water, not alcohol. It's completely fine for my health."
"Sister, do you really think this Zou Tianhua is a reliable person?" Mo Minna's younger sister asked.
Mo Minna looked back, letting out a soft sigh.
At that moment, Zou Tianhua had his arms wrapped around two women. Even with his wife standing right before him, he seemed completely unconcerned with his image, clutching gorgeous beauties to his chest.
"Young Master Zou, you're so bad! Hurry up and take your hands away, your wife is right over there!" one of the women cooed flirtatiously.
Zou Tianhua winked playfully. "What's there to be afraid of? She already knows how I am. Not only am I not taking my hands away, I'm going to slide them further down!"
The beauty let out another coquettish squeal.
Another beauty pouted in protest, "Young Master Zou, if you spoil her like that, you have to spoil me too!"
"Alright, alright, I'll spoil you!"
The scene was utterly vulgar and utterly distasteful, causing Xie Wuji to frown deeply.
Zou Tianhua popped a cherry fed to him by one of the beauties into his mouth and said, "I've finally vented my anger today. I heard that punk Xie Wuji came looking for trouble again. I originally let him off the hook, but who would've thought he'd run off with that cheap bitch!"
"To think someone actually dares to go against Young Master Zou—they must have eaten the courage of a bear and a leopard," the beauty flattered.
"Indeed. That's why I sent men to smash his shop up and teach his little employees a hard lesson!" Zou Tianhua said with immense pride.
Hearing this with his own ears, Xie Wuji felt a surge of shock, realizing that it was indeed the work of this scoundrel.
Yet with so many eyes and ears around, it was inconvenient for Xie Wuji to make a move, so he could only observe from the sidelines for now.
"Sir, would you care for something to eat?" a waiter asked, holding a tray.
Xie Wuji picked up a glass of champagne, nodded, and said, "Thank you, one is enough."
The waiter walked away with his tray, but just as Xie Wuji took a sip of his drink, he caught sight of Zou Tianhua in the distance, embracing a beauty as they walked toward the inner rooms.
Knowing his opportunity had arrived, Xie Wuji discreetly checked that no one was paying attention and followed after them.
Following the stairs up into a private room, two women had already begun unbuttoning Zou Tianhua's clothes. Zou Tianhua grinned from ear to ear, wearing an expression of supreme lechery.
Right at that moment, Xie Wuji stepped into the room wearing his mask. "Zou Tianhua, long time no see."
"W-Who the hell are you?" Seeing Xie Wuji's menacing mask, Zou Tianhua was so terrified that his pants dropped right to the floor.
Xie Wuji sneered, "Take a guess."
