Chapter 109: A Taste of Their Own Medicine
"You old wretch, how dare you!" Luo Xiong roared in fury.
He unleashed a punch with explosive force! The incoming battle energy shattered on the spot. Immediately, he turned and transformed into a streak of light, pursuing the two bolts of battle energy that had been fired at Qin Feiyang and his companion.
"Cold Moon!" the old man in black shouted.
Behind him, a full moon slowly rose, appearing as if condensed from ice, radiating a vast and overwhelming power. The rain in the air and the puddles on the ground instantly froze solid.
"Suppress and kill!" The black-clad old man pointed toward the sky. The cold moon trembled, tore through the air, and whistled toward Luo Xiong.
"This aura..." Qin Feiyang’s body stiffened. This was a Battle Art—a supreme supernatural skill that surpassed ordinary martial arts, one that could only be cultivated after reaching the rank of Battle King.
Luo Xiong’s expression turned grim. If he continued to save Qin Feiyang and the other, he would certainly be severely wounded by the Cold Moon. But if he didn't, they would surely die.
"Damn it!" he cursed. Instead of counterattacking, he continued to chase the two bolts of energy.
"Hall Master, I have a way! Don't worry about us!" Qin Feiyang shouted.
"A way?" Luo Xiong hesitated for a split second, then made a decisive choice to turn back. He wouldn't have trusted anyone else, but in his eyes, Qin Feiyang was a boy capable of performing miracles. He trusted him unconditionally.
Whoosh! Battle energy poured out from his body like a torrent, rushing into the sky like an inverted waterfall. In an instant, a gigantic fist manifested, looming like a mountain and releasing an earth-shattering pressure.
"Tyrant Fist, kill!" Luo Xiong roared. The massive fist tore through the sky and collided with the Cold Moon.
Boom! A deafening explosion shook the heavens and the earth. The fist and the moon vanished in a burst of light like fireworks illuminating the night sky.
*Pfft!* *Bang!* Luo Xiong and the old man in black both vomited blood and were sent reeling backward.
At that same moment, Qin Feiyang grabbed Ling Yunfei and vanished into the Ancient Castle.
*Whoosh!* The two bolts of battle energy whistled past the spot where they had stood, slamming into the perimeter wall. The wall collapsed instantly, and several nearby houses were reduced to rubble in the wake of the destruction. Fortunately, the occupants had already fled upon hearing the commotion, avoiding a gruesome fate.
A moment later, Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei reappeared in their original positions, staring at the ruins with expressions of lingering shock.
The old man in black regained his footing and sneered, "Luo Xiong, you can't even protect your own disciples; what right do you have to be the Hall Master of the Pill Hall?" He assumed the two were dead. But when his gaze shifted past Luo Xiong and landed on them, his old eyes widened in pure disbelief.
How could this be? Not only were they not dead, they weren't even injured?
*Whoosh!* Seeing the old man’s reaction, Luo Xiong knew they were safe and immediately launched a furious counterattack. He lunged forward, his fist shrouded in battle energy, and slammed it into the old man’s abdomen.
*Urgh!* The old man in black was sent flying, his body doubling over as he crashed through tree after tree, letting out a beast-like howl. Finally, he smashed through a rockery and buried himself deep into the ground.
"Get out of here!" Luo Xiong barked without looking back, continuing his pursuit toward the rockery.
"Is this the power of a Battle King?" Ling Yunfei clenched his fists, staring at Luo Xiong’s back with longing.
"If it weren't for that tragedy, I would be far beyond a mere Battle King by now. I might have even reached the Battle Emperor realm," Qin Feiyang muttered to himself. He slapped Ling Yunfei on the shoulder and shouted, "Stop daydreaming, let's move!"
Ling Yunfei snapped out of it and scrambled to follow Qin Feiyang through the gap in the wall.
"The City Lord has ordered them to be killed! Pursue them!" Behind them, a large group of guards gave chase, mud splattering everywhere.
Outside the wall was a two-meter-wide alley filled with rainwater. The two ran frantically through it.
"Why are there still so many guards?" Ling Yunfei glanced back and paled.
"It seems the City Lord has been building his own forces for years," Qin Feiyang said grimly.
"Look! It’s Jiang Haotian! And Ling Yunfei!" The streets surrounding the City Lord’s Mansion were packed with people. Seeing the two sprinting through the alley, the crowd was filled with astonishment.
"Get out of the way! Don't block us!" Qin Feiyang roared.
"What's happening inside? Why is there such a commotion?" The people blocking the alley entrance asked, shouting over one another.
"What do we do?" Ling Yunfei asked anxiously.
Qin Feiyang looked up and shouted, "To the rooftops!"
They both leaped upward, using their momentum to vault several meters high, landing steadily on the roof of the building adjacent to the City Lord’s Mansion. The guards followed suit, leaping up one by one.
Qin Feiyang turned back and yelled, "Good chance, don't hold back!" As two guards jumped up, he kicked them both, sending them crashing into the opposite wall, where they collapsed in agony.
Ling Yunfei drew a dagger. Seeing a guard climbing up, he lunged, plunging the blade into the guard's forehead. The guard let out a scream and plummeted to his death.
"What is going on here?" The crowd on the street watched as the two slaughtered the City Lord's guards, their hearts filled with shock. Had they gone mad? Did they not know they were digging their own graves?
In just a dozen breaths, over twenty guards had fallen at their hands. More guards began swarming onto the rooftops from other directions.
"Retreat!" Qin Feiyang signaled, and they turned to flee. Ling Yunfei followed closely. Though some roofs were high and others low, the two moved with the agility of apes, their speed unaffected. The pursuing guards were like shooting stars, relentless.
Roof tiles shattered under their feet. Ling Yunfei gritted his teeth, "This can't go on!"
Qin Feiyang’s eyes flashed, "Feng Cheng and the others must have heard the commotion. Head toward the Pill Hall!"
They shifted direction, but after only a few steps, Ling Yunfei warned, "Careful, two of them have caught up!"
Qin Feiyang glanced back to see a tall guard and a short guard closing in rapidly. The short one carried a large iron bow with a quiver on his back, while the tall one wielded two iron hooks resembling eagle claws, their tips gleaming with a chilling, cold light.
Qin Feiyang’s heart sank. In Black Bear City, anyone who could keep pace with them without auxiliary martial arts had to be a Martial Master! He hadn't expected the City Lord’s Mansion to have so many.
The tall guard sneered, "Let's see where you can run today!"
The short guard pulled two arrows from his quiver. *Whoosh!* The arrows tore through the air like lightning, aimed at their backs.
"Watch out!" Qin Feiyang shouted. They both sidestepped, and the arrows grazed their arms, shattering tiles before embedding themselves deep into the roof’s wooden beams. Black smoke hissed from the wood.
"What? They're poisoned!" Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei felt a chill run down their spines. The arrowheads were coated in deadly toxin!
"Down!" Qin Feiyang commanded. They jumped down to the street and darted into a narrow alley. The two guards followed.
The alleys were a labyrinth, and the four engaged in a frantic chase. Because of the countless intersections, Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei finally found a moment to catch their breath.
A moment later, they stopped at a crossroads. Ling Yunfei pointed to the left, "There's a trash heap there, let's hide."
"Hide in a trash heap?" Qin Feiyang balked. He couldn't bring himself to do that. He looked to the right and saw a pile of baskets filled with waste paper about ten meters away. The paper was soaked and repulsive from the rain, but it was better than a trash heap. He ran toward it without hesitation, Ling Yunfei following.
No sooner had they hidden than the two guards reached the intersection. Seeing no sign of them, the tall guard roared in frustration, "If there weren't so many paths, we would have finished those two little animals already!"
The short guard’s face was equally dark. He fired an arrow into the trash heap, then drew another and aimed it at the baskets!
"Oh no!" Qin Feiyang whispered.
"Please don't fire," Ling Yunfei prayed.
*Whoosh!* The short guard released the arrow.
"Run!" Qin Feiyang shouted. They kicked over the baskets and bolted.
The short guard grinned, quickly drawing two more arrows and firing them in one fluid motion. The arrows whistled through the rain like vipers and struck Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei in the shoulders. Blood sprayed into the air.
"Take the antidote and play dead!" Qin Feiyang whispered. Ling Yunfei discreetly produced two pills, handing one to Qin Feiyang. Since their backs were to the guards, their movements went unnoticed. After swallowing the antidote, they collapsed into the rain-slicked ground, lying perfectly still.
"That should finish them!" the short guard sneered.
The tall guard shook his head, "Although the tips are coated in the toxin of a One-Horned Giant Python, we shouldn't be careless. Let's go confirm it."
"You worry too much," the short guard scoffed. "They are only five-star Martial Masters; that toxin is more than enough to kill them instantly!"
"Regardless, we must confirm," the tall guard insisted.
"Fine, fine, have it your way," the short guard waved him off.
The two began to stride toward Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei.
"What do we do?" Ling Yunfei whispered.
Qin Feiyang thought for a moment and whispered back, "Don't we also have the poison of the One-Horned Giant Python? Let's give them a taste of their own medicine. Wait for them to get close, and then act."
"Good idea," Ling Yunfei’s eyes lit up.
