Qin Feiyang’s gaze grew cold and grim. The meaning of Old Yuan’s words was clear—Black Demon Fortress would send more assassins after him.

Old Yuan asked, “Feiyang, what do you intend to do?”

Borrowing his words, Qin Feiyang replied, “When soldiers come, we meet them head-on; when floods come, we build dams.” He lifted his eyes to the waning moon, a fierce chill bursting forth from his gaze.

Old Yuan nodded, deeply gratified.

“This is for you,” he said, retrieving the white dagger from his breast. Now, however, the dagger was encased in a wooden sheath resembling a sword scabbard, freshly carved by Old Yuan.

Qin Feiyang took it, gently unsheathing the blade, and studied every detail with care. The dagger was white as jade, each part meticulously polished and carved. If he hadn’t witnessed its power himself, Qin Feiyang would have thought it was merely an exquisite ornament.

“This dagger is named Cangsnow. It slices through iron as if it were mud. It will be of great help to you in the future; you must keep it safe,” Old Yuan urged.

Qin Feiyang nodded, puzzled. “Old Yuan, where did you keep this dagger before?”

Old Yuan smiled. “Both the dagger and the Bone-Cleansing Pill were kept in that secret chamber.”

“No wonder I never saw them,” Qin Feiyang realized, then looked up at Old Yuan. “Old Yuan, can you tell me now why you had the Bone-Cleansing Pill, and this dagger? Do you know why those people in the imperial capital want to harm me?”

Old Yuan’s eyes flickered, and he smiled. “Feiyang, let’s wait. When you turn sixteen, I will tell you everything.”

Qin Feiyang frowned. In three days, he would turn fifteen. That left a whole year before sixteen. What was Old Yuan hiding? Why wouldn’t he tell him?

Old Yuan took out the jade box. “I’ll give you the remaining Bone Renewal and Healing Pills as well.”

Qin Feiyang accepted the jade box, gazing steadily at Old Yuan. At last, he sighed silently and gave up pursuing the question—he could see Old Yuan had no intention of telling him.

“Old Yuan, wait here. I’ll cook something for you,” Qin Feiyang said. He first lit a bonfire, then ran over to the black ox, drew Cangsnow, and cut off one of its legs.

Old Yuan’s face twitched. This rascal really had no idea of Cangsnow’s worth.

Meanwhile, a man and a woman, armed with iron bows, sped toward the lake under the moonlight. They were Lin Gu and Lin Guo. Instead of entering through the passage, they hid atop a mountain, watching Qin Feiyang and Old Yuan.

“Qin Feiyang isn’t dead?” Their faces changed instantly.

“That’s impossible—we saw him fall off the cliff with our own eyes,” Lin Gu murmured, disbelief written all over his face.

“Not only is Qin Feiyang alive, but Qin Yuan is too. What on earth happened with Ma Hongmei?” Lin Guo’s brows knitted tightly.

“Lin Guo, look—isn’t there a corpse lying beside them?” Lin Gu asked, startled.

The bonfire blazed, illuminating the land.

“There is indeed a corpse, though it’s too far to see clearly. But I’m certain that person was sent by Ma Hongmei,” Lin Guo said grimly.

“Even Ma Hongmei’s assassin died here. Could it be that Qin Feiyang and Qin Yuan…?” Lin Gu trailed off, recalling the scene from earlier, cold running through his body.

“The facts are clear: neither Qin Feiyang nor Qin Yuan are ordinary. You stay here and watch them—I'll report to the family head. If I haven’t returned within an hour, head back yourself,” Lin Guo whispered.

Lin Gu nodded.

Lin Guo glanced at Qin Feiyang and Old Yuan, a fierce glint flashing in her eyes. She rose soundlessly, but as she turned, she froze where she stood.

“Why aren’t you moving?”

Seeing Lin Guo standing motionless, Lin Gu turned to look, puzzled.

But the very next moment, his face also turned deathly pale!

It was as if they had seen something utterly unbelievable. At the foot of the mountain, they didn’t know when, but suddenly pairs of green, ghostly eyes appeared! At first glance, it looked like clusters of will-o’-the-wisps flickering—chilling to the bone.

Wolves!

Lin Guo and Lin Gu trembled in body and soul. Only wolves’ eyes glowed green at night!

One… ten… more than fifty white wolves stood shoulder to shoulder at the foot of the mountain, cutting off their retreat! The lead wolf king’s eyes brimmed with hatred.

Howl!

Suddenly, it lifted its head and howled at the waning moon.

Behind it, the fifty-some white wolves began to advance up the mountain.

“A wolf’s howl?” By the bonfire, Old Yuan frowned.

“It’s him!” Qin Feiyang shot to his feet, turning toward the entrance.

“Old Yuan, stay here. I’ll check it out.” With these words, he ran to the black ox, grabbed three arrows, and sprinted toward the entrance.

“That rascal—what trick is he up to now?” Old Yuan frowned, rising and following at a steady pace.

On the mountain, Lin Gu stared nervously at the wolf pack. “Lin Guo, what do we do?”

They recognized the lead wolf king as the one that had been with Qin Feiyang earlier in the day. Though both were seven-star martial artists, facing more than fifty savage wolves made their hearts race.

“Wolves are cunning, vindictive, and never let go of a grudge. We wounded it earlier—it won’t let us off easily now. Take down the king first!” Murder flashing in her eyes, Lin Guo pulled three arrows from her quiver.

She drew her bow!

Whizz!

Three arrows screamed through the air, slicing toward the wolf king.

The wolf king’s eyes blazed; it leapt several meters high, and the arrows shot beneath it, striking a boulder with sparks and a sharp metallic clang.

“Die!” Lin Gu seized the moment, releasing a cold arrow as the wolf king landed.

The wolf king was mid-air—there was no avoiding the shot!

In the nick of time, a white wolf leaped up, blocking the arrow for the king and dying instantly.

Thud!

The wolf fell, rolling down the slope, flattening wild grass and shrubs.

Howl!

The wolf king’s eyes turned blood-red, and with a furious roar, it charged at Lin Guo and Lin Gu.

The other white wolves went mad, murderous aura surging!

Lin Guo and Lin Gu’s eyes darkened as they kept firing arrows at the wolf king. But—either the wolf king dodged, or other wolves blocked the arrows.

The stench of blood quickly spread.

“Lin Guo, I’m out of arrows!” Lin Gu panicked as the frenzied wolves rushed toward them.

Their quivers together held only thirty arrows. They’d killed twenty wolves, leaving thirty-some. If all attacked at once, even as seven-star martial artists, they would pay dearly.

“Kill!” Lin Guo’s arrows were spent as well. There was only one path left—slaughter every beast!

Both brandishing iron bows, they plunged into the wolf pack, fighting for their lives.

Qin Feiyang reached the foot of the mountain, glanced at the slain wolves, and looked up.

“Lin Guo, Lin Gu, your lives are forfeit!” he roared, charging up like a maddened bull, swinging his fist at Lin Gu!

“Qin Feiyang, you useless wretch—you dream of killing me?” Lin Gu punched back.

Their fists collided!

Blood sprayed from Lin Gu’s mouth as he crashed to the ground.

“How is this possible?” Disbelief crawled over his face.

At the same time, Qin Feiyang was knocked back, but he caught hold of some shrubs, steadied himself, and, wolf-like, pounced on Lin Gu while he was distracted.

With the three arrows in his hand, he drove them into Lin Gu’s right shoulder!

Blood splattered into the air!

The agony made Lin Gu scream in torment!

Qin Feiyang yanked out the arrows, then lunged at Lin Guo.

Nearby, several white wolves swarmed Lin Gu, tearing at him mercilessly. The scene was utterly bloody, too hideous to bear!

“He’s a seven-star martial artist?” Lin Guo’s eyes filled with horror.

Seeing Qin Feiyang’s murderous, wild charge, she suddenly felt he was a stranger!

Suddenly, a white wolf leaped up, biting her arm and dragging her down.

“Lin Guo, your time has come!” Qin Feiyang roared, plunging the three bloodied arrows into her leg as he leaped.

He had promised to repay them in kind!

“Aaah…” Lin Guo shrieked in agony, swinging her iron bow wildly. Several wolves trying to swarm her were battered bloody.

Qin Feiyang’s shoulder was struck as well, flesh torn open!

“Qin Feiyang, I’ll kill you!” Lin Guo, face twisted in rage, raised the iron bow to smash his head.

Qin Feiyang sneered, drew Cangsnow, and slashed with all his might. With a resounding clang, the iron bow was cut in two!

“How is this possible…” Lin Guo’s face was aghast.

A dozen white wolves surged forward, tearing wildly. The screams were endless!

Qin Feiyang sheathed the dagger, exhaled deeply, wiped the blood from his face, and walked to the wolf king’s side, smiling. “White-Eyed Wolf, so soon we meet again. Fate has brought us together.”

The wolf king glanced at him, a hint of disdain in its eyes.

Qin Feiyang chuckled, “Come, don’t be so cold. Let me treat you to a feast.”

The scene was too bloody for him to linger.

“Growl!” The wolf king rumbled at him.

“What are you trying to say?” Qin Feiyang wondered.

The wolf king rumbled again. Seeing Qin Feiyang still didn’t understand, it simply howled, then led the thirty-some wolves away down the mountain, leaving only a proud silhouette.

“Don’t go!” Qin Feiyang called after it.

“It wants you to bury the slain wolves, and it’s heading to Iron Ox Town to trouble the Lin family now,” Old Yuan’s voice rang out behind Qin Feiyang.
