Chapter Ninety-Four: The Masked Woman
“After suffering for so long, you should have vented your anger by now. Just give him a quick death.”
Ling Yunfei walked over and tried to persuade him.
“What does it have to do with you?”
Qin Feiyang said without turning around.
“Nothing.”
Ling Yunfei shook his head.
“Then mind your own business.”
Qin Feiyang said sternly. Rising to his feet, he gripped the wooden club and swung it toward Mu Yang’s head.
But at that very moment, Ling Yunfei seized Qin Feiyang’s wrist.
“What are you doing?”
Qin Feiyang whipped his head around and stared at Ling Yunfei, killing intent flashing in his eyes.
“He used to humiliate me too. I want to kill him myself.”
Ling Yunfei said.
He slapped a hand against his spatial pouch, and a dagger instantly appeared.
Grasping it, he turned and, with a swift motion, slit Mu Yang’s throat.
“You...”
Mu Yang’s eyes widened in fury, as if he wanted to say something, but before a single word could leave his mouth, he toppled to the ground, dead beyond all recovery.
“Now that feels good.”
Ling Yunfei smiled, wiped the blood from the dagger, and turned to look at Qin Feiyang.
But the moment he turned—
Qin Feiyang grabbed the front of his robe and said coldly, “Do you take me for a fool? If you think that once you enter the Martial Hall you can soar to the heavens, then I’m telling you now: you are utterly mistaken.”
Ling Yunfei said, “You’ve misunderstood me. I really didn’t mean anything else.”
Qin Feiyang grinned wickedly. “Is that so? Then why, when I told you to stop Mu Fei earlier, did you stand there and do nothing? If this is what you call a sword for killing, what use are you to me?”
Ling Yunfei trembled. An inexplicable panic rose in his heart as he stammered, “Back then I... I was thinking...”
Qin Feiyang said, “Thinking whether I was Qin Feiyang?”
Ling Yunfei nodded.
Qin Feiyang said, “Then let me tell you now: I am Qin Feiyang.”
“Jiang Haotian is Qin Feiyang!”
A cry of astonishment rang out from the distance.
Qin Feiyang snapped his head toward the sound and shouted, “Who is it? Get out here!”
A young man in black burst out from a patch of bushes and ran toward Black Bear City without looking back.
Qin Feiyang did not pursue him. Releasing Ling Yunfei, he said expressionlessly, “Prove it to me now. Are you really a sword, or not?”
Without the slightest hesitation, Ling Yunfei gave no reply and silently chased after the fleeing man.
“Ah...”
Not long after, a miserable scream echoed from the forest in the distance.
Soon, Ling Yunfei returned to Qin Feiyang’s side and said respectfully, “It’s dealt with. But farther away, there’s another group. It looks like Jiang Wei and his useless friends.”
Qin Feiyang said, “Do you know? If you had shown even the slightest hesitation just now, I would have killed you on the spot.”
Although Ling Yunfei was also a five-star martial master and had mastered perfect battle techniques, Qin Feiyang still had absolute confidence that he could kill him.
Ling Yunfei’s pupils contracted. “Don’t worry. Your true identity—I won’t tell anyone. Not even my mother.”
“Best if it stays that way.”
Qin Feiyang glanced at him. “Let’s go. See what Jiang Wei and the others are up to.”
Ling Yunfei nodded and hurried ahead to lead the way.
After learning Qin Feiyang’s true identity, he could no longer act as casually as before.
A deep, unshakable fear had settled in his heart.
A moment later, Qin Feiyang stood behind a screen of bushes and looked into the distance.
Several hundred paces away, a group of people was hurrying in their direction.
It was indeed Jiang Wei.
The others were all unfamiliar faces.
But just by their clothing, their mannerisms, and the way they carried themselves, one could tell they were a pack of idle spoiled heirs.
Ling Yunfei explained, “Besides Jiang Wei, the rest are also from the minor families of Black Bear City. Should we kill them too?”
“Jiang Wei...”
Qin Feiyang’s eyes flashed. Shaking his head, he said, “Back in Iron Ox Town, Luo Qingzhu and her mother helped me many times. You should respect the Buddha when you respect the temple. As long as Jiang Wei doesn’t come looking for trouble again, leave him be.”
“So they also know your true identity?”
Ling Yunfei asked in surprise.
“Relax. They are more reliable than you.”
Qin Feiyang said lightly.
Ling Yunfei forced a bitter smile. It was obvious the remark was a jab at him.
“A ghost!”
When Jiang Wei and the others ran closer and caught sight of the two of them, they were so terrified that they bolted in a panic.
Qin Feiyang lifted an eyebrow.
Earlier, Mu Fei and the others had behaved like this. Now Jiang Wei and the rest were the same.
Could it be that, after not returning for a month, everyone thought he and Ling Feiyang were dead?
No.
At the start, Mu Yang had seemed to mention the Sawtooth Crocodile King.
Apart from him and Ling Yunfei, only the two dozen or so people from the Jiang and Mu families knew about the Sawtooth Crocodile King.
Thinking of this, a sharp light flashed in Qin Feiyang’s eyes. “Go capture Jiang Wei.”
As soon as he spoke, Ling Yunfei shot out like a hunting leopard.
In just a few breaths, he returned with Jiang Wei in hand and brought him before Qin Feiyang.
“Behave yourself!”
He gave a cold snort and tossed Jiang Wei at Qin Feiyang’s feet.
Jiang Wei immediately scrambled to his feet, rushed up to Qin Feiyang, and said ingratiatingly, “Brother Haotian, it has been many days. I trust you’ve been well!”
Qin Feiyang quickly took two steps back, gooseflesh rising over his entire body. “Answer a few questions, and I’ll let you go.”
Jiang Wei said unhappily, “What kind of words are those? You’re my own brother, aren’t you? Forget a few questions—dozens, even hundreds, would be no problem.”
Qin Feiyang’s face twitched. “What are you all doing here in such a crowd?”
“This...”
Jiang Wei’s expression changed, hesitation filling his face.
Qin Feiyang raised a brow. “Ling Yunfei, drag him off and bury him. Remember, bury him alive.”
Jiang Wei turned deathly pale and hurriedly said, “I’ll talk, I’ll talk! It’s because of Mu Fei.”
“Earlier I received word that Mu Fei had come here to find a birthday gift for his father, so I brought a bunch of brothers over to give him a little lesson. I never expected to run into you, this harbinger of calamity...”
“No, no, not that—brother, my dear brother!”
Jiang Wei waved his hands frantically, looking at Qin Feiyang in terror.
Inside, he could only curse his own bad luck.
From now on, whenever he went out, he would have to check the almanac first.
“A birthday?”
Qin Feiyang narrowed his eyes slightly. “When is the Mu family head’s birthday?”
“Tomorrow.”
Jiang Wei said.
“Then I’ll have to prepare him a grand gift.”
Qin Feiyang’s lips curved, carrying a faint, sinister smile.
Seeing that expression, Ling Yunfei knew this man was definitely plotting something again.
Jiang Wei did not understand it, nor did he have the heart to. He only wanted to get through this quickly and stay far away from this scourge.
Qin Feiyang gave a cold laugh inwardly and asked, “A month ago, did anyone from your Jiang family or the Mu family make it back alive?”
Jiang Wei froze.
As if he had suddenly thought of something, his expression changed slightly.
He asked in confusion, “Did something happen a month ago?”
Qin Feiyang barked, “Drag him off and bury him!”
Ling Yunfei seized Jiang Wei by the clothes and hauled him aside.
“Don’t move, don’t move! We can talk this out...”
Jiang Wei shouted in alarm, his face pale as paper.
Qin Feiyang asked, “Will you speak now?”
“Yes, yes, I’ll speak!”
Jiang Wei nodded repeatedly.
Qin Feiyang glanced at Ling Yunfei, signaling him to let go.
Once Ling Yunfei released him, Jiang Wei dropped directly onto the ground and immediately let out a howl of pain.
His face turned the color of liver in an instant.
“What happened?”
Qin Feiyang was startled.
Ling Yunfei looked at Qin Feiyang and said, “Let me make this clear first: I didn’t set him up.”
Then he looked down at Jiang Wei again and frowned. “What are you screeching about?”
“I...”
Jiang Wei cried out and twitched at the same time.
He seemed to be in great pain, yet also terribly anxious, unable to get a full sentence out no matter how long he tried.
Ling Yunfei snapped, “What exactly is wrong with you? Can’t you explain it in one go?”
“I got... my rear... impaled...”
Jiang Wei roared, his face nearly twisted out of shape.
“Impaled in the rear?”
Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei both stared blankly.
Pfft!
The next moment, Ling Yunfei burst out laughing on the spot.
Qin Feiyang also fought back his laughter, his face reddening from the effort.
Jiang Wei endured the agony and snarled, “Stop laughing and help me, damn it! And you still dare laugh—are you even human?”
“Ahem.”
Qin Feiyang coughed once and held out a hand. Jiang Wei immediately grabbed it.
Then Qin Feiyang gave a slight pull and hauled him to his feet.
Ling Yunfei glanced at Jiang Wei’s trousers and asked in confusion, “Your pants aren’t even torn. How could you have gotten that...?”
Jiang Wei shouted angrily, “Nonsense. Does it look like I’m pretending?”
“Ah...”
Ling Yunfei paused, looked down at the ground, and then laughed until he nearly doubled over.
It turned out there was a sharp stone lying on the ground.
When Jiang Wei had dropped onto his backside just now, he must have landed directly on that stone and struck some unfortunate spot.
To be hit by such an absurdly tiny chance—it was truly heaven-defying luck.
“Why are you laughing? Have you never seen anything like it?”
Jiang Wei roared, rubbing his backside furiously, his teeth bared in pain.
“To be honest, this really is the first time I’ve seen it.”
Ling Yunfei said very solemnly, his expression serious beyond measure, and then he could not help laughing again.
“Bastard, even you’re bullying me!”
Jiang Wei gritted his teeth and, in a fit of rage, kicked the stone far away.
“Ah!”
Suddenly, a cry of pain came from not far off.
The three of them looked at each other in silence.
Could it really be such a coincidence?
It really was.
A woman in tight black combat attire emerged from the dense forest ahead, clutching her head.
She wore an exquisite white mask. Though her face could not be seen, her long legs were slender and straight, and her figure was exquisite and graceful, without the slightest excess flesh. One could tell at once that she was quite young.
The masked woman walked over, swept a glance over the three of them, and asked, “Was that stone thrown by you?”
“I can endure being bullied by Jiang Haotian, since he’s stronger than I am. But now even a woman comes out of nowhere trying to bully me? So the tiger doesn’t roar and you take me for a sick cat?”
Fury surged through Jiang Wei. He stepped forward, looked down at the masked woman, and said, “I threw it. What are you going to do about it?”
“What am I going to do?”
The masked woman’s tone turned icy.
She took one step forward and, in a flash, appeared behind Jiang Wei!
Immediately after, she kicked the back of Jiang Wei’s leg.
Jiang Wei cried out and thudded to his knees on the ground.
Then she lifted her foot again and kicked him squarely in the back.
Jiang Wei was sent sprawling face-first into the dirt, his mouth filled with mud.
“So fast!”
Qin Feiyang and Ling Yunfei’s pupils contracted.
Their eyes had never left the masked woman.
And yet, they had not caught the slightest trace of how she had gotten behind Jiang Wei just now.
It felt as though she had teleported.
