Chapter 119: Spiritual Energy Conversion

Kengan Godzilla What are you doing? 2707 words 2026-03-24 00:21:41

Radiating an unsettling, grotesque aura, the Tokyo Godzilla raised its thick hind leg, aiming to stomp down on its opponent’s head. Though caught in the disadvantageous position of being pinned to the ground, the experienced and orthodox Godzilla whipped its powerful tail around with agility, snagging the opponent’s supporting leg. With a violent tug, the Tokyo Godzilla was sent crashing down. A thunderous roar and a towering plume of dust instantly enveloped the battlefield.

The two behemoths were now locked in a ground struggle. As their claws collided, the dust stirred up was swept away in less than a second by the spherical shockwaves bursting from the point of impact. With the tempo shifted to a ground war, the force that would have been vented into the air was now largely absorbed by the earth. In an instant, the solid urban infrastructure and subterranean pipelines in the area were crushed and obliterated. Even people in the distant Tokyo suburbs could feel the distinct tremors. As the two grappled and tore at each other, the ground buckled and shattered with terrifying efficiency.

Throughout the struggle, the Tokyo Godzilla’s dorsal fins glowed with a dreamy purple light, and its tri-lobed maw periodically unleashed horrific atomic breath upon its foe. The orthodox Godzilla, by contrast, seemed not to have unleashed a single energy attack from the start—whether it was off its game or simply incapable was unclear. Yet, the scales of victory were undeniably tipping toward the Tokyo Godzilla. The grotesque victor remained silent, staring with vacant, dull eyes, much as it had when facing the human military; it saw no need to roar at such a weak opponent.

"ROAR!"

It was the orthodox Godzilla, initially so imposing, that let out a desperate cry, struggling against the earth and straining to hold back the razor-sharp claws pressing toward its throat. However, the Tokyo Godzilla’s evolved arms had already been upgraded through repeated clashes and power struggles. The orthodox Godzilla could only use one hand to pin the enemy's head, preventing the atomic breath, while its other hand blocked the claws driving toward its neck. But the Tokyo Godzilla still had another arm.

*Squelch.*

"ROAR!"

The claws sank deep into the orthodox Godzilla’s sturdy waist, twisting. Amidst a gut-wrenching, earth-shaking roar, the orthodox Godzilla did not panic; instead, it used its elbow to pin the claw that was still digging into its gut. On the other side, the sheer dominance of the Tokyo Godzilla’s strength forced the other claw closer and closer to the orthodox one’s throat.

Just then, a tiny figure scrambled along the orthodox Godzilla’s defensive forelimb, climbing up onto the enemy’s pressing arm.

"Whoa, truly terrifying." The young man stood steady, his eyes grave. "The surface temperature alone is enough to warp the air... this is practically hell!"

Though he spoke of terror, a wild, ferocious smile played on his lips. He slowly leaned down, pressing both palms against the obsidian-like skin. Then... a burst of frigid energy!

The struggling state of his own side's behemoth left him no time to reach the creature's chest. Moreover, Baitang Jing did not believe he could freeze such a god-like monster on his own. That was unrealistic. The heat within that beast came from a biological reactor that existed only in human fantasy. Even with his "Spirit Absorption" ability, he would burst himself long before he could defeat it. So, he chose to strike at the Tokyo Godzilla’s elbow joint instead.

*Nen: Spirit Absorption, activate!*

"Ugh!"

Even with his mental preparation, the sheer, violent surge of spiritual energy caught Baitang Jing off guard. The dragon-blood inner energy coursing through his meridians flared like fuel thrown onto a fire. The profound logic of this technique usually left no room for deviation or "qi deviation" during normal operation, but this was no longer a matter of technique. Baitang Jing’s own meridians felt as if they were about to be shredded by the rampaging dragon-blood energy!

Although the Godzilla blood in his veins continuously drew spiritual energy from his body to repair tissues and fuel the development of his energy organs—in this short moment, the boy felt his own Godzilla-based energy system become more refined—Baitang Jing, who possessed only the blood of a nascent Godzilla, could never absorb such a massive quantity of spiritual energy. Having grown up in this world, he had never experienced the sensation of being enveloped by spiritual energy. Yet now, the excess energy he was forced to vent from his body was enough to wrap around him five or six times over.

And yet, there wasn't even a sign of stiffness on the Tokyo Godzilla’s elbow.

"Not enough!"

Baitang Jing frowned, unblinkingly swallowing the blood rising in his throat. If he didn't absorb this spiritual energy, he could technically survive by acting as a "Heat-to-Spirit" converter. But after witnessing the Tokyo Godzilla’s impossibly fast adaptive evolution, Baitang Jing dared not release such unprecedented, extraordinary energy into the creature's proximity. What if it gained sentience? Even if it didn't, who knew what terrifying thing a Godzilla that had absorbed "spiritual energy" might evolve into?

The razor-sharp claws were irresistibly closing in on the orthodox Godzilla’s throat.

It seemed the claws themselves had evolved during the fight, turning into some form of super-material. Skin that could withstand B-2 bombs and atomic rays was being pierced and sliced like paper. The claws that had broken the skin were now pushing deeper toward the organs in the neck.

"Tch." Baitang Jing made his decision, spitting a glob of blood onto the obsidian skin beneath his feet. He looked back at the struggling behemoth and flashed a bold, reckless grin.

"Consider this payment in advance for your blood."

He released his hold on the ground with one hand and pointed it toward the orthodox Godzilla. "I don't know if this is too much or too little, but hey—let's call it a gesture of friendship! HAAAH!"

An intangible, formless energy—a high-energy substance never before seen in the 6.5 billion-year history of this planet—slammed into the behemoth's chest!

"ROOOAR!"

The grounded behemoth let out a roar of unprecedented magnitude! It stared in astonishment at the tiny figure on its enemy's arm. The lethargy of its long hibernation was rapidly fading, replaced by a sensation it had never experienced in its long life, spreading throughout its body. What was this? How did the little one do it?

The orthodox Godzilla was filled with questions, but Baitang Jing knew nothing of them. Maintaining his stance, he pushed *Nen: Spirit Absorption* to full power for the first time since its development! Treating himself as a pure converter, he held nothing back. Massive amounts of thermal energy were instantly converted into spiritual energy. On the obsidian skin, the air, previously distorted by high heat, now showed water molecules freezing into ice crystals!

*Crack, crack, crack—*

The sound of freezing ice emanated continuously from the Tokyo Godzilla’s elbow. The local thermal-nuclear reaction was suppressed; deprived of the energy necessary to maintain vital activity, the limb not only weakened but seemed to lose its structural integrity.

With a massive *boom*, the orthodox Godzilla, which had been struggling to hold back the enemy's claws, exerted its strength and snapped the thousands-of-tons-heavy forearm clean off, tossing it aside! As the mangled arm fell, Baitang Jing leaped back onto the shoulder of his own behemoth, gasping for breath.
