Chapter 155: Resonance Boxing (Subscription Requested)
The Julius before his eyes was utterly different from the one during the Kengan Annihilation Tournament.
Whether in presence, spirit, or the fundamental power of a supreme fighter, they were worlds apart. Stripped of human reason and perseverance, the beast possessed a merciless tyranny that only made its strength more frenzied, more tyrannical!
"Roar—!"
The monster let out a monstrous cry. The sheer thrill of slaughter caused saliva to drip from the corners of its grinning maw. Its fist, half the size of an ordinary person's torso, was thrust forward without a shred of technique, yet the resulting shockwave was fierce enough to make buildings hundreds of meters away tremble like they were caught in a Category 12 gale.
Standing upon Julius's tail, Bailitang Jing had already anticipated its next move through the subtle twitching of its muscles. Well-prepared, he leaped lightly, dodging out of the attack's trajectory beforehand.
However...
There was no time to evade completely.
Bailitang Jing's pupils constricted sharply. His brain arrived at this conclusion in a split second.
Although the disparity in their techniques allowed the youth to see through Julius just like Kuroki Gensai's [Pre-initiative], the difference was that Kuroki Gensai only ever had to deal with human opponents, where the gap in raw power was minimal.
The Julius of the present, however, held an overwhelmingly terrifying advantage in physical attributes!
In a mere instant, the Dragon Blood internal energy converged within the meridians of Bailitang Jing's arms. Winding his arm with a spiraling force, he blocked it against his flank, which he had failed to pull out of the path of the attack in time.
[Rakshasa Sole]!
Accompanied by a crisp, unique slapping sound, Bailitang Jing fluttered like a sheet of paper amidst the violent gale. The surging force merely grazed his arm, yet it sent the two-meter-tall, robust man hurtling straight toward the exterior wall of a hundred-story skyscraper, leaving a white streak of displaced air in his wake!
Adjusting his posture mid-air, he planted both feet squarely against the outer wall. The instant he made contact, the skyscraper—built to withstand a magnitude-seven earthquake—had its tempered glass shatter and its steel framework warp, taking his landing point as the epicenter to form a massive, spiderweb-like indentation.
"Such defensive power and sharpness... And his strength has grown even greater? Or was he holding back before?"
Glass shards cascaded through the sunlight like pulverized crystal dust. Bailitang Jing's gaze remained fixed on Julius, who was still standing in place. The fist with which Julius had struck the [Rakshasa Sole] was venting wisps of blue smoke, yet it was completely undamaged.
Conversely, the center of Bailitang Jing's palm had been gouged into a bloody crater, though it was now rapidly healing. That injury had been caused by the barbs on Julius's knuckles expanding as he threw the punch.
Moreover, the sheer force of this single blow far exceeded the combined might that he and Doppo Orochi had managed to withstand earlier. This was no longer a level that could be reached barely by channeling Dragon Blood internal energy to hyper-activate the body.
It surpassed it by leaps and bounds!
This gap in raw physical attributes could not be explained away by a mere "mutated species." It felt much more like Doppo Orochi crushing Katsumi Orochi a few days prior—a comprehensive disparity in power, speed, and even bodily toughness.
Just as the monster had declared, their powers were simply not in the same league!
Before Bailitang Jing could finish his train of thought, the gigantic monster in the distance grinned at him, and then vanished abruptly!
Julius, whose personality had been shattered by bestiality, had no habit of taking mid-round breaks. High-density air left a milky-white trail following the sharp angles of its body. A speed far exceeding Mach 5 generated a shockwave capable of crushing ordinary humans to death.
The monster charged straight toward Bailitang Jing, who had barely spent a second clinging to the building's exterior wall. Leaving no room for evasion, Julius came laughing wildly, slamming forward with outstretched arms. Since his fists could be dodged, he would simply use his bar-studded body as a battering ram.
Let's see you dodge this!
Yet, dodge?
The corners of Bailitang Jing's lips curled upward.
No need.
A stream of data flashed across his retina, and a conclusion was reached. He already knew how to deal with this creature.
Before Julius could collide with him, the youth leaned backward a fraction of a second early, shattering the building's wall behind him. The Dragon Blood internal energy modulated into a specialized vibrational frequency according to the intelligent brain's data calculations, and then he thrust his hands forward to press directly against the bar-studded body rushing toward him.
"Bang!"
High-strength reinforced concrete was as fragile and ethereal as foam before the two of them. Borne along by Julius, the man and the monster plowed diagonally upward through seven floors, finally bursting out through the exterior of the tower only because of the upward angle.
"Ugh!"
Mid-air, Bailitang Jing widened his eyes and swallowed the blood welling up in his throat. Even though he had dissipated the momentum beforehand, a force that crushed him by an entire tier was still enough to rupture his internal organs. The pain within his chest burned like fire.
Yet, a grim, fierce smile still managed to creep onto the youth's lips.
"The home court has shifted, Julius."
The monster's yellowish beast-eyes flickered like an electric spark. It had no idea what the puny Bailitang Jing could possibly do now, but a sense of mortal danger drove it instinctively to close its arms, preparing to crush the youth in its embrace and squeeze him into a pulp of meat.
However, suspended in mid-air with no point of leverage, the monster—utterly devoid of any knowledge of martial arts—could only rely on the brute strength of its arms for the strike, unable to even twist its waist to generate torque. Less than twenty percent of its true power could be brought to bear. Due to this lack of leverage and uncoordinated motion in mid-air, the speed of its limbs was reduced to less than half of what it had been.
Bailitang Jing smoothly hooked himself onto the outer side of Julius's arm.
"Shhh—"*3
The Dragon Blood internal energy surged in a unique pattern, delivering three successive palm-strikes to the opponent's neck.
"Roar!"
The beast-eyes abruptly constricted, and a loud cry escaped its throat.
Seeing Bailitang Jing evade the bear hug, it hadn't been worried at all. Given the colossal gap in physical performance, even if it stood completely still and let him hit it, the chances of his breaking through its defense were practically zero.
Yet, why was the bone-deep pain from those palm-strikes to its neck just now so excruciating?!
Resonance.
Using the data gathered from their very first contact regarding the Dragon Blood internal energy and the opponent's physique, the intelligent brain had calculated the resonant frequency of the opponent's skeletal structure.
And Bailitang Jing, using his Dragon Blood internal energy as a vibrational tool, inflicted unblockable damage upon those bones through precise control of his internal energy's frequency.
Due to Julius's ferocious charge, the two of them were now at a height of at least two hundred meters. Bailitang Jing wound around Julius's massive body like a hazy phantom. The monster's razor-sharp limbs moved stiffly in mid-air; it could neither land an attack nor shake him off, forced to take the beating passively.
Yet every punch Bailitang Jing landed—though seemingly impotent to Julius—was steadily and tangibly damaging its flesh.
Knee joints, lumbar vertebrae, ribs...
With the opponent tightly guarding its own head, Bailitang Jing could only dismantle Julius's body inch by inch, from the bottom up. As Bailitang Jing's punches fell, a series of cracking bone fractures echoed from within Julius's frame.
Finally, the man and the monster plummeted from a height of two hundred meters.
The direct, rigid impact of their high-strength bodies sent up a shockwave of dirt and sand that billowed as high as a dozen floors.
The dust and smoke gradually settled.
Julius's gargantuan body lay sprawled flat on its back in a massive crater, completely boneless and incapacitated, letting out endless, furious howls.
"Roar-ah!"
The self-healing capacity granted by the Titan genes was already taking effect; the bones would soon automatically shift back into position and fuse together.
Yet, just as Julius had no habit of taking mid-round breaks, Bailitang Jing had no intention of giving it a moment to catch its breath.
He leaped lightly into the crater, looking down with an expression of admiration at the twitching flesh striving to regenerate. The monster's roars continued unabated as it glared at him with unyielding malice.
"Even your recovery speed is this formidable, Julius."
"If I had relied solely on physical impact force, perhaps I never would have broken through your defense at all?"
The youth raised his fist, the surrounding dust vibrating under the influence of an invisible, transcendent energy to form a hazy, gray "shroud."
"The inspiration for this punch actually came from Godzilla in Tokyo. Perhaps it will eventually develop into a 'High-Frequency Fist Style,' who knows?"
The youth smiled as he spoke.
Yet, just as Bailitang Jing was about to drive his "resonance"-imbued fist down onto Julius's head, Julius's howling abruptly stopped.
The eyes with which it stared back at Bailitang Jing were filled with cunning and malice.
"Hum—"
A faint electromagnetic pulse echoed from the ground beneath their feet.
The youth's pupils contracted violently; without a moment to spare for thought, he leaped backward instantly.
Almost simultaneously—
"Whoosh—"
A tail-whip, its dorsal fins flashing with a mesmerizing plasma-blue light, erupted straight up into the heavens!
