Chapter 136: It Seems They’ve Been Put in Their Place Again

The Enchantress Must Be Subdued Little Bao with the Dusty Head 2 2401 words 2026-03-20 12:36:43

The drinking party in Water Town had ended long ago, yet as dawn approached, tranquility still failed to return.

Qiu Hongwen and Qiu Tianjue were genuinely frightened now, cold shivers running down their backs. They had somehow managed to stir up trouble of such enormous proportions. Little Ma had seemed magnanimous and said nothing, but who knew whether he was merely putting on an act? Who knew whether he would hold a grudge?

Before Jiang Yaowen left, Qiu Hongwen shamelessly tried to smooth things over and had a brief conversation with him. Jiang Yaowen merely said that he was very broad-minded and would not quarrel with every stray cat and dog.

That was what he said, but the two Qius knew that even if the Devil King was magnanimous and easygoing, the mother of Secretary of State Michael Chen would probably be paying them a visit soon. That woman hid knives behind her smiles; she was a meddlesome troublemaker and an even more difficult person to deceive. Perhaps in the end she would dump all the blame on the Qiu family, claiming that “little Michael had been incited by others” or something of the sort.

Zeng Xiaoxian was still there as well, and she was deeply worried. The matter might appear to be over, but this certainly was not like an elementary-school quarrel where children fell out today and made up tomorrow. She felt that the aftereffects were bound to remain.

Who could have imagined that a celebrated socialite, famous across half the country and usually as graceful as a fish in social circles, would lose her composure so completely this time and fall into the trap as if possessed? That man truly had something almost demonic about him.

Since her skin was exceptionally thick, and since being beautiful naturally gave her a higher margin for error than ordinary people, Zeng Xiaoxian decided not to stay there any longer. She rose as though she had business to attend to and said to Qiu Hongwen and the others, “You go on talking. I have something to do, so I’ll leave first.”

Qiu Tianjue and Qiu Hongwen felt a chill in their hearts. They began to suspect that this woman might turn around and set them up instead. Was she really going to kick them while they were down?

But they were already facing endless trouble, and Zeng Xiaoxian was hardly someone who could be handled easily. So Qiu Hongwen could only darken his expression and make no attempt to force her to stay.

Once inside her Bentley, Zeng Xiaoxian shamelessly called Jiang Yaowen.

Ordinarily, she and Jiang Yaowen dealt with each other as equals. Now, however, she lowered herself considerably, speaking in a somewhat coy and pleading tone.

Jiang Yaowen was relatively low-key and fairly principled compared with most people in their circle. They also shared certain interests, and in many areas beyond Haizhou, he still had reason to rely on Zeng Xiaoxian.

Since the Devil King had not said he intended to destroy the woman, Jiang Yaowen naturally had no desire to create extra trouble or act against his own interests. He therefore chatted with Zeng Xiaoxian over the phone for quite some time, with considerable amusement.

By the end, the feeling was rather strange. Jiang Yaowen thought Zeng Xiaoxian’s hints had become quite obvious—she was practically asking him to meet up for a few rounds.

There was no denying that Zeng Xiaoxian was an extremely attractive woman when she was not acting like a lunatic. The problem was that he suspected the Devil King had designs on her, and Jiang Yaowen was not short of women himself. There was no need to step on a land mine like this.

So he laughed and said, “All right. If you’re in such a hurry to see me, that isn’t really necessary. I have a lot to deal with. Still, it shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll make a few calls and see whether I can really get someone to speak with him and clear up this misunderstanding. But I can’t promise anything. If it doesn’t work out, that’s perfectly normal. You understand. Your attitude back then may not have amounted to hatred, but it really was enough to make anyone angry.”

“I understand, I understand. Then I’ll trouble you.”

Zeng Xiaoxian hung up.

In the bedroom, Jiang Yaowen—Fatty Jiang—rose from his seat and walked to the window with his phone. After thinking for a moment, he sent Feng Chenchen a message:

See if you can persuade him to meet Zeng Xiaoxian.

Fatty Jiang thought this was perfect. He would be sending “him” a beautiful woman, while at the same time keeping both sides happy and forming a favorable connection with Zeng Xiaoxian.

This was highly effective. So long as the Devil King did not pursue the matter, Xie Jinyan’s attitude would change, and Zeng Xiaoxian would continue working for her. Then every avenue would remain open, and all the relationships would intersect.

A moment later, Feng Chenchen replied:

Relax. He listens to me more than anyone and dotes on me the most. Besides, he really does have a good temper. There isn’t much violence in him.

“…”

Jiang Yaowen was speechless. That enchantress was bragging and selling herself again. Still, he had to admit that she truly was capable—and extraordinarily good at stirring things up.

Then Feng Chenchen began laying down her conditions, sending a second message:

Also, I need to use your plane. This is his arrangement.

Jiang Yaowen nearly cursed aloud.

He knew perfectly well that this could not possibly be “his” arrangement. That enchantress had started showing off again.

But it was only a minor matter, so he replied:

No problem. If it gets him to meet Zeng Xiaoxian, you can have as many flights as you want. You can even use Zeng Xiaoxian’s plane instead of mine. Hers is parked in the same hangar as mine. Damn it, I’m renting that hangar from her anyway.

Feng Chenchen promptly sent a grinning emoji along with an OK hand sign.

Jiang Yaowen was in an excellent mood by then. He put down the phone, woke the young model in his bed, and decided to have a round with her first.

The frustrating part was that Quan Zhiling was also staying at Jiang Yaowen’s villa, seemingly determined not to leave. Good grief—having her remain there, waiting for the Devil King to “choose” her, made Fatty Jiang feel like a fifth-rank eunuch.

Sitting in her Bentley, Zeng Xiaoxian was still restless when she suddenly received a message from Jiang Yaowen:

He wants to see you. At my villa on Summit Road. Go there yourself.

Perfect.

Zeng Xiaoxian smiled, patted the seat, and instructed the driver, “Summit Road.”

Another message from Jiang Yaowen followed:

Feng Chenchen needs to borrow your business jet. Don’t refuse her. Your chance to meet him was secured by her.

It was only a small matter, so Zeng Xiaoxian did not give it much thought. She sent back an OK hand sign.

Little Ma was deeply annoyed.

He had returned in the middle of the night, utterly exhausted, yet had slept only until early morning before Feng Chenchen came in to wake him.

He assumed she was getting him up for work, but Feng Chenchen wore a strange expression. She came up behind him, tidied his hair, leaned close, and giggled.

“I’ve arranged a little benefit for you. A beauty is coming to meet you.”

Little Ma did not even ask who it was. He simply nodded.

The villa gates opened, and Zeng Xiaoxian’s Bentley drove inside.

Having spent the entire night without sleep, Zeng Xiaoxian looked somewhat worn out. She had touched up her makeup in the car, and now the fatigue in her face complemented her natural allure perfectly, giving her an especially captivating air.

Some people looked best when they were bright-eyed, energetic, and full of spirit. Others were more beautiful when they carried a trace of exhaustion, even something faintly unhealthy about them. Julia, for instance, had become more and more compelling as the previous night wore on, which was why Little Ma had thrown himself into it so completely.

The same was true of the Devil King’s body. If he took on a sunny, wholesome appearance, he risked looking effeminate. He needed a touch of sickness and something demonic to truly possess style.

After finishing his appraisal of Zeng Xiaoxian, Little Ma felt that only a wealthy person could come up with theories like these.

Zeng Xiaoxian saw that he said nothing and simply stared at her. Her heart grew cold. In truth, she still had no idea who this man was. She only vaguely knew that he was extraordinarily powerful, because Xie Jinyan had never told her anything about him.

“Sorry to disturb you. You’re so busy, yet you were still willing to make time to see me.” Zeng Xiaoxian delivered the opening line with a hint of awkwardness.

Little Ma grew smug.

Since she had not come this time to provoke his hatred, he had probably managed to intimidate the enchantress.

Whether he had truly intimidated her completely remained uncertain. But it did not matter. Even if she had not been fully subdued, dragging her into the Demon-Sealing Tower for a little refinement would certainly bring her around in the end.

Feng Chenchen and Han Siyi were proof enough. Both enchantresses were now perfectly obedient. Aside from being unable to provide benefits in any entirely normal way, their demonic nature had essentially been refined away.
