Chapter 101: The Covenant of Civilization
Upon entering the room, the other three had already arrived. Meanwhile, the Earth was also closely monitoring the situation. After all, this matter concerned the interests of all civilizations, so in a way, Sun Meng was merely a messenger.
“I believe you all understand how crucial the Civilization Pact is. If it is violated, the system’s rules will erase everything—no one can bear that responsibility,” Pixar said.
Mu Xingye replied, “Our coming here means we are prepared. Moreover, this time we are not signing a subordinate civilization pact, but a Civilization Alliance Pact. As long as the terms are not too extreme, I think everyone can accept them.” He glanced at Sun Meng and Cocoraru as he spoke.
Sun Meng nodded. “I suppose the civilizations behind each of you are watching us. This alliance pact should only be signed with their consent, shouldn’t it?”
Pixar said, “Very well! I will first present the contents of the alliance.” With that, he took out the core projection of his civilization and displayed the terms of the pact.
The four of them formed a team to undertake missions together, assisting each other along the way. Provisions included voting on choices and other clauses. Apart from rewards being allocated based on individual merit within each mission, the rest of the terms were quite lenient.
“Because the interoperability among our four civilizations is very low, I have not included clauses about technological exchange. If you think it’s necessary, we can add it,” Pixar said.
His civilization followed a path of consciousness digitization and physical mechanization. Mu Xingye’s civilization, Bluewater Star, was primarily focused on biotechnology, maintaining the integrity of their own species. Cocoraru’s civilization still pursued the path of magical technology, while Earth’s civilization followed cultivation, emphasizing individual evolution.
Their technological exchanges could not be reasonably converted under the system’s rules, so it was impossible to directly use technologies from other civilizations.
“I think we could establish a shared information repository. Even if we cannot directly use mature technologies from others, it might help us avoid unnecessary detours. What do you think?” Mu Xingye suggested.
“I agree,” Cocoraru said. Her civilization had the lowest technological level among them, so such a repository would be of great assistance.
“Agree to it; this will benefit us as well,” Xu Xiao sent a message at that moment.
Sun Meng was somewhat surprised but trusted Xu Xiao’s judgment. After all, Xu Xiao’s unique destiny ability was impressive, and Sun Meng was willing to rely on his choices.
Once this was approved, it was added to the pact’s content. The four reviewed the entire agreement again and then transmitted it to their respective civilizations.
Back on Earth, Yi Gang projected the entire pact from the civilization core. All specialists gathered to scrutinize it, examining every word carefully.
It took a full six hours to read through the pact, after which they identified and patched some potentially contentious loopholes.
Sun Meng projected the revised pact from Earth, and Mu Xingye and Cocoraru did the same. The four versions were integrated with the system’s assistance, ensuring all parties’ needs were accounted for.
“Then, let’s sign the pact!”
Under the system’s witness, the four civilization cores floated into the air and touched together. The Civilization Pact emitted a radiant light, imprinting itself upon each core.
Every lifeform within these civilizations became aware of the pact’s existence. Moreover, all civilizations shared a common network-like consciousness space, responsible for storing the knowledge and information of the four civilizations.
On Earth, Xu Xiao commanded, “All scientists and spiritual brains, begin converting and recording this information!” Although some scientific rules had changed due to shifts in civilization paths, he had previously recorded the fundamental rules and technology trees of old Earth.
Both Pixar’s civilization and Bluewater Star shared a high degree of similarity with Earth’s technological foundation, so replicating and converting was relatively straightforward.
As for Cocoraru’s side, they could only record the information for now, postponing the conversion process. Cultivation civilizations enhanced individuals greatly but did not excel technologically like science-based ones. By comparison, Earth’s best spiritual brain currently reached only mid-level tier two. While suitable for ordinary tasks, large-scale calculations required linking many spiritual brains via arrays, which was costly in manpower and materials.
Additionally, due to Xu Xiao’s destiny ability, he needed to leverage Pixar’s and Mu Xingye’s civilizations’ computer technologies, converting them into spiritual brain technology compatible with his own civilization to create a super spiritual brain that could synergize with his powers.
Setting aside what the other three civilizations were doing, after signing the pact, the four exchanged sincere smiles. Previously, no matter how well they spoke, there was always some wariness without absolute guarantees. Now, that barrier was lifted.
“In three days, the next phase will begin. I wonder what kind of missions await us,” Pixar said.
“According to the pact, the four of us have already formed a team. Since the mission worlds will be the same for all of us, do you think the system will arrange a world with a more complex power structure to accommodate each of us?” Cocoraru asked.
“In the previous mission worlds, although one civilization path usually dominated, other paths had some achievements. But for advanced worlds, probably not,” Mu Xingye responded. “Once a civilization path reaches beyond tier three, unless the dominant civilization is seriously flawed, it won’t invest heavily in other civilization paths.”
“In that case, we will have to rely on the system’s conversion to transform the rewards into things suitable for our own civilizations,” Sun Meng said, excited. Once the cultivation civilization surpassed tier three, by his calculations, it would reach the lowest level of the immortal cultivation civilization!
In three days, Sun Meng completed the preliminary mastery of the Star Battle Body. Truly, this tier three cultivation technique was worthy of its name; just an initial step elevated his physical quality to early tier three level—purely physical strength without any additional enhancements.
Indeed, this cultivation method focused purely on the body. Its initial requirement was to construct a star chart using the body’s acupuncture points as stars, strengthening the body with stellar energy to form a Star Silk Garment. As long as the Star Silk Garment remained intact, even clothing wouldn’t tear, let alone hair.
The next step was to build a star formation, granting ranged attack capabilities, though tied to stamina. The attacks resembled beams of light.
Moreover, this power did not conflict with normal internal energy or spiritual cultivation; it truly completed the path of pure body refinement.
“All participants, please note: The second phase of the Civilization Game is about to begin. Please return to your rooms and prepare.”
The system’s voice sounded, and Sun Meng stood up.
A beam of light descended, and in the next moment, Sun Meng found himself in a room with Pixar and the other two alongside him.
“Alliance pact detected. Squad mode activated. Primary squad, maximum members five. Increase members?”
The four exchanged glances. “No increase for now.”
Immediately, a system light descended, and the four understood the rules of the second phase.
Mandatory missions occurred once every ten years, with one main mission per mission world. Completion allowed return. Trial world cards were canceled and replaced by mission scrolls. The outside of the city was fully open; death outside consumed points but allowed resurrection. Death in mission worlds consumed points to offset penalties. Civilizations could select new participants, consuming points to inherit the strength of previous participants.
Multiple teams could enter the same mission world, and missions might conflict.
“Then, the first mission world is now open!” Sun Meng declared. A special card in his hand transformed into a point of light.
