Chapter 125: The Formation of a Former Alliance!
Lin Jia was taken aback. How could the Woma Cult Leader grant so much experience? Even after being split among an entire squad, he had still personally received 2,500 experience points.
He quickly realized why: the Taoist player who had invited them into the party had been killed in a frenzy just before the Woma Cult Leader died. By being removed from the party, the final blow he had dealt to the boss resulted in him claiming all the experience for himself.
The death of the Cult Leader yielded an incredibly rich bounty. Lin Jia saw several robes, along with multiple weapons like the Demon-Slaying Blade, Shura, and Crescent Moon. Accessories were buried under a mountain of potions, making them impossible to identify at a glance. After the brutal battle, the thirty-plus players who had entered together were nearly wiped out; only Lao Dao, Balabala Guaiguai, another Taoist, and Xiao Xiami—who had survived thanks to his high level and superior gear—remained. The four survivors were now busy luring away the scattered monsters that had respawned in the corner, beginning to loot the battlefield.
Lying on the ground, Lin Jia scanned the items with his mouse, hoping to spot some high-quality gear. When he noticed a black magic robe near his avatar, he suddenly remembered he hadn't checked if he had dropped any equipment when he died. He hurriedly opened his equipment window, only to see his little mage standing there, buck naked and looking foolishly at the screen while holding a Crescent Moon blade.
"Boss! I dropped my robe! Come over and pick it up for me!" Lin Jia said, trying to remain calm. With the Cult Leader dead, and three of the four remaining survivors being Taoists, there shouldn't be any issues with looting, but Lin Jia still preferred his boss to retrieve the robe to avoid the hassle of asking Xiao Xiami for it later.
The boss acknowledged him and asked if Lao Si had dropped anything. Lao Si had also been unluckily killed near the Cult Leader; the operation had certainly been a costly one.
Lin Jia could only watch helplessly as a vast array of treasures lay on the ground, out of his reach. The only things he managed to pick up were a few potions that had been tucked under his character. When the boss ran over, there were still a few Woma-type monsters nearby, but the greatest advantage of a Taoist was the ability to go about their business in a crowd of monsters undisturbed.
Xiao Xiami was frantically picking up items while the two Taoists with him carefully lured the monsters away, repeatedly using Invisibility to return. The boss ran over, picked up Lin Jia’s robe, and began sweeping the area for loot. Lin Jia’s sharp eyes caught a curved item lying lonely in the corner of the second-to-last ring of the "carpet" of loot. He moved his mouse over it and saw it was the very item Xiao Xiami and his group had been targeting. He quickly told the boss to go pick it up.
The group quickly cleared the ground, consuming any loose potions to free up space in their inventories—waste not, want not. Xiao Xiami then said with disappointment, "It seems the 'Woma Horn' didn't drop!?"
"It did!" Lin Jia called out from the ground. "We picked it up! It's with us! We'll return to the city and give it to you!" They all exchanged signals and used their Dungeon Escape Scrolls or Town Teleport Scrolls.
After reviving and logging back in, Lin Jia stood in the safety zone of Biche Royal City, letting out a long sigh of relief. The scene he had just witnessed was so intense that he was still feeling waves of excitement. As he wiped the sweat from his face, he realized his hands were still trembling uncontrollably, and his heart was pounding violently.
"That was exhilarating!" Lao Si shouted excitedly. Seeing him drenched in sweat, it was clear he was just as pumped as Lin Jia. "I never expected fighting a boss to be so intense! And the leveling there is so fast!" The boss was also excited; she had used one of her few remaining Town Teleport Scrolls and noted that it would be necessary to farm more in the Skeleton Cave or other locations where they dropped. They were convenient, but the general merchants didn't sell them; players had to farm them from monsters.
After waiting for a while, Xiao Xiami and his group returned to the safety zone. The boss walked up and traded the horn to Xiao Xiami. Xiao Xiami was clearly overjoyed, repeatedly saying, "Thank you, brothers! You guys are truly stand-up people!" Lin Jia knew he meant that they hadn't kept the horn for themselves after picking it up. He figured the price of a horn must be astronomical; if they had shouted to sell it, major gaming guilds would likely have offered huge sums, perhaps even paying in real-world currency. Anyone with half a brain knew how much of an advantage the first guild established in the game would have.
"You guys!" Xiao Xiami turned to trade with Balabala Guaiguai for a moment, then ran back to trade with Lin Jia. In the trade window, Xiao Xiami placed a Gold Bar and a Demon-Slaying Ring. "Sorry about this! There are a lot of us playing together, so we don't have many gold coins. Take this gold bar as a token of thanks. We only managed to get the horn thanks to Crazy's help. Also, this Demon-Slaying Ring dropped from the Cult Leader; it's a top-tier item! Since we didn't have any gear for Yun Wu earlier, consider this her share."
Lin Jia clicked confirm and checked the ring's stats: Magic Resistance 0-4, Attack 1-2, Magic 1-2, and Taoist Power 1-3. It was a perfect match for the gold ring the boss had just replaced, forming a pair of rings with 1-3 Taoist power. With its additional stats, it was definitely top-tier gear for a Taoist, perfect for the boss's current level.
The boss had owned a Demon-Slaying Ring before but hadn't been able to equip it until she reached level 25. After Lin Jia had passed his own gold ring down to her, she had unequipped her old Moral Ring. Now, with this premium Demon-Slaying Ring, the gap in her equipment had been perfectly filled.
After thanking Xiao Xiami, he proposed, "Crazy, why don't you guys join our guild? We can work together to capture Sabac City later!"
Lin Jia thought about it, consulted with the boss, and replied, "Sure! We aren't sure how the guild system in *Legend* works, but we'll join and see. But my brother said if another horn drops, he wants to start a small guild of his own to mess around with, so we might leave later, is that okay?"
Xiao Xiami laughed heartily. "Sure! Isn't the whole point of playing games to have fun? Whatever you want!"
The boss urged, "How do we join your guild?"
Xiao Xiami said, "I'm not sure yet. The system announcement said you need the Woma Horn dropped by the Woma Cult Leader to build a guild, but I don't know how to use it!"
"Maybe you just double-click it like a potion?" Lin Jia guessed.
"No," Xiao Xiami said. "I just tested it, it doesn't work! Maybe we should ask a GM." GMs were the game administrators of *Legend*, responsible for handling unusual issues and answering player questions. There were usually several GMs online at once, and the system would periodically announce which GMs were currently active. By typing "/gmoi" followed by the name, one could chat with a GM just like a private message, provided they weren't too busy.
The GM currently online was GM09. Xiao Xiami was silent for a moment, presumably chatting with the GM. After a while, he said, "Haha! I know now! The GM said we need to find the King in the Biche Palace. He says he's waiting for us there and will help us make a server-wide announcement! We're the first in *Legend* to get the horn!"
"What? The GM is coming in person to host it!?" The boss was excited and ran toward the Biche Palace first. The female Taoist, Balabala Guaiguai, began contacting the other thirty-plus companions who had gone to Woma to join them at the palace for the ceremony.
The group excitedly ran from the safety zone to the Biche Palace. They saw a novice dressed in simple cloth armor standing next to the King, his nameplate reading "GM09." Xiao Xiami asked curiously, "You're the GM? I thought you'd look different from us!"
A warrior player with Xiao Xiami asked, "GM, what level are you?"
GM09 was apparently amused by the warrior and patiently replied, "This character is only level 1!"
The warrior said with surprise, "I heard GMs are very powerful! If you're only level 1, wouldn't you die instantly?" As he spoke, he ran up and slashed at GM09, but the level 1 character didn't lose any health. The warrior was stunned and shouted, "Whoa! You can't even be killed!?" Lin Jia broke into a sweat—did the guy actually want to kill the GM?
GM09 chuckled. "This account uses GM mode; I'm invincible!"
The warrior was even more delighted. "Wow, that's badass! GM, give me GM mode too! That way I won't lose health while grinding!" The surrounding players were likely dumbfounded. Did this idiot even think? How could that be possible? If you couldn't be killed, you'd be a GM yourself! Would the game developers ever agree to that?
The GM, clearly exhausted by this simple-minded player, ignored him and said to Xiao Xiami, "You want to establish a guild, right? Please click on the NPC, and I'll tell you how to operate it! First, you need the Woma Horn and a gold bar..."
Xiao Xiami followed the GM's instructions, spoke to the King, and was prompted to enter a guild name. After debating with his friends for a long time, they decided on "Alliance of the Past." He clicked confirm, and a guild that would dominate the *Legend* Light server for a long time was born!
Immediately afterward, the GM issued a system announcement: "The first guild in *Legend* has been born! *Legend* is entering a new chapter! In the near future, the fires of war from Sabac will ignite the entire continent of Mir..."
