Chapter 86: The Physical Trainer

Dreamstar City, “Cloud Dream” Training Center.
Wu Hua had already changed into athletic wear and, under the guidance of the NPC hostess, arrived at the gym.
This gym in the virtual world was no different from a real-life sports club—every facility was available and complete. The training center, run by Dragon Battle Starfield, was thriving, with a steady stream of players coming to train. Interestingly, the fitness instructors were not NPCs but rather high-salaried players hired by Dragon Battle Starfield, many of whom were professional trainers in real life, brimming with experience.
Although Wu Hua was reluctant to train here, he had to temporarily set aside his preferences for the sake of future battles—after all, this was the best training facility in the city.
“Mister Number One, based on the courses you’ve selected, you may choose your instructor,” the NPC hostess said. The reason she addressed Wu Hua this way was due to the center’s strict confidentiality policy: no customer information was ever revealed, and everyone was referred to by a code name. Wu Hua, being the very first and top-tier gold VIP member, was assigned the code 001, hence the title "Mister Number One," and enjoyed the highest level of service.
Three player instructors were already assembled before Wu Hua. The first was a hulking man, clad in a military vest and camouflage pants, muscles bulging—a veritable powerhouse.
“This is Instructor 082, Ironclad Dragon, specializing in close combat. He’s a master of martial arts and fighting, able to swiftly develop your strength specialization and teach you various punching and kicking techniques,” the hostess explained.
“Ironclad Dragon? The name suits you,” Wu Hua laughed. But he had no need for flashy fistwork; after all, as a gunner, he relied on modern weaponry—who could outpace a bullet with their fists?
The second instructor was also male, leaner, but with piercing, brooding eyes that exuded a dangerous aura.
“This is Instructor 191, Blade That Draws Blood, an expert in knives, swords, and staves. He can sharpen your reflexes and rapidly boost your agility specialization, as well as elevate your melee skills,” the hostess continued.
Wu Hua thought to himself, Isn’t this for training warriors? I’m a gunner.
The third instructor was a woman, lacking the imposing presence of the first two. Dressed in a blue women’s fitness outfit, she appeared refined and elegant. She was taller than Wu Hua, her figure impeccable, and her beauty striking—the sort of woman who inevitably triggered a man’s imagination.
“This is Instructor 130, Rainy Dawn, a form and flexibility coach. She’s proficient in dodging, climbing, judo, yoga, kendo, and Xingyi boxing, and will enhance your physical flexibility and overall strength,” the hostess announced.
Wu Hua was delighted at once. Pointing to Rainy Dawn, he declared, “Good. I choose you.”
Ironclad Dragon and Blade That Draws Blood exchanged glances, barely masking their discontent: Yet another pampered playboy here to flirt with the ladies.
Rainy Dawn, too, remained indifferent. She was all too familiar with men who came to the center just to pester her.
“Teacher Rain, I look forward to your guidance,” Wu Hua said with a polite bow and a smile.
Rainy Dawn’s first words left Wu Hua utterly stunned: “As your instructor, I am responsible for your body. Come and undergo a physical examination.”
Wu Hua, trembling with nerves, followed behind her, thinking, To be physically examined by a woman right off the bat—if Earthy Potato heard about this, he’d probably laugh himself silly.
The function hall was well-equipped. The dedicated diagnostic chair scanned one’s health status in all directions. As soon as Wu Hua sat down, lines of data appeared on the electronic screen on the wall:
Gold VIP Member 001 Body Profile
Constitution Specialization: 22 points

Strength Specialization: 1 point
Agility Specialization: 1 point
Ranged Specialization: 3 points
Body Flexibility: 5%
Stamina: 2800/2800
Fatigue: 0%
Hunger/Thirst: 16%
...
These lines of data left Rainy Dawn astonished and utterly perplexed.
First, apart from warriors, every other class gained 100 stamina points per level. Wu Hua was clearly at the mid-range of level 28, but most of his specializations were still at their original values. Even if he’d put all his points into constitution, it shouldn’t be only 22.
Of course, in this training center, players were required to wear the designated fitness uniform and not their combat gear, leaving them feeling almost “bare.”
Rainy Dawn sensed there was more to Wu Hua than met the eye, but as an instructor, it was forbidden to ask about customers’ private matters.
“All right, let’s start by familiarizing you with the daily training routine.” She pointed to a treadmill in the corner. “Run for 40 minutes—the passing mark is 20 kilometers.”
Wu Hua was dumbfounded. What? Forty minutes for twenty kilometers? That’s enough to exhaust anyone!
“Fine, for the sake of a blissful future, I’ll endure,” Wu Hua muttered, hopping onto the treadmill and starting.
Forty minutes later, he was sprawled across the hall, gasping for breath.
“At your current level, you’re far from improving your constitution,” Rainy Dawn said coldly. “Next, join me in doing 100 push-ups.”
Wu Hua muttered, “You win, lady,” then obediently positioned himself on the floor beside her. Rainy Dawn was ruthless: Everyone knew that doing push-ups in one go wasn’t that tiring, but pausing between each rep was exhausting. That’s exactly how she had them do it.
“One!” Rainy Dawn called, and Wu Hua did one push-up.
“Two!” This followed five seconds later.
“Three!”

By the time she reached “seventy-eight,” Wu Hua’s wrists were trembling; he could already foresee the aching of his abs, chest, and shoulders.
But why was the instructor doing it so effortlessly? Wu Hua resolved to hold out to the end.
...
Rainy Dawn: “Next, 100 standing bends.”
Wu Hua: “All right!”
Rainy Dawn: “Now, 100 neck lifts.”
Wu Hua: “Excellent!”
Rainy Dawn: “Now, 100 lifts with a five-kilogram dumbbell.”
Wu Hua: “I can take it!”
Rainy Dawn: “Next, a 50-meter sprint!”
Wu Hua: “Still hanging on!”
Rainy Dawn: “Now, a 100-meter sprint!”
Wu Hua: “I can’t take it anymore—but I’ll keep going!”
...
At six in the evening, Wu Hua finally finished dinner at the training center, dragging his exhausted body out the gates of Cloud Dream.
“Remember to report here at nine sharp tomorrow morning.” Rainy Dawn had already changed into her autumn attire, standing tall and graceful—a vision of beauty and elegance.
Wu Hua was in no mood to appreciate her charms; he was so tired he could hardly speak. The thought of more than ten days of training ahead filled him with dread.
He was spending half a month here for one reason: When he handed over the two metal crystals to Monica, Ice Coffee had told him to come back in fifteen days to collect his new gun.
Wu Hua had originally planned to use this half-month to level up, but decided to grit his teeth and bear it. Leveling up didn’t mean much right now; even though everyone’s level would likely rise in that time, the lessons learned in the Blue Moon Mountains had been profound. For now, it was crucial to focus on improving his physical fitness.
“Sigh, who knows what other training awaits me? Never mind, I’ll just grit my teeth and push through!” Wu Hua heaved a long sigh, shouldered his backpack, and stepped out the door.
